Looking back, I think the audience is supposed to find his duet with Ana kind of suspicious? But maybe not. He does come across as trying TOO hard to be perfect, but I think the movie narrative would have been served better by having him look shifty at least once or twice or something.

But the fact that there were almost no warning signs is part of the point. In the real world, bad guys don't wear their colors so blatantly as the Duke of Weaseltown, they're often subtle and manipulative, pretending to be something they're not. That's why Hans threw everyone for a loop, he plays the good guy while playing everyone, even the audience, like a fiddle. Having him act shifty would've lessened the impact of his betrayal.

Yes to the looking shifty bit. Either that or make him a bit more sympathetic later rather than so cold and calculating.

The love song comes way, WAY too early in the film. Movies with a love story have a tendency to place their important moments at about the same juncture. Pushing the love song so early after the audience has been introduced to the girls makes the whole thing seem a little "off".
