I absolutely adore the Beatles, but, you know, different tastes.

I will note that I had no interest in them whatsoever until I started hearing some of their weirder stuff. "I Am the Walrus" was the one that made me actually start listening to the albums instead of just occasionally hearing them on the radio. And then I found out that they did "Glass Onion" which had a reference to that, and listened to the white album and just... aaaagh. Infatuation. "Dear Prudence" is one of my favorite Beatles songs ever, and "Long Long Long", and I laugh a whole lot at "Yer Blues", since it's basically John Lennon making fun of the entire "blues" genre. And I had a metalhead for a boyfriend once, he hated the Beatles too - except "Helter Skelter", which he said was the only song they ever wrote he liked.

Their early, more pop stuff only grew on me with time, and Paul's songs are the ones that most frequently get air time... and his songs still have a tendency to make me roll my eyes, even the ones I find catchy. XD Once I started finding out who wrote which songs, I discovered I had a great preference for John and George.

So while it's perfectly fine to not like the Beatles (just you'd never want to take a long car trip with me!), they have a HUGE discography, and if I'd only heard the common stuff that gets frequent radio play, I'd find them overrated myself. Might want to try looking into some album towards the end of their run, and listening to the songs you've never heard of before - you might be surprised.

Those are some interesting songs you picked out. I listened to them... I'll have to listen to them all again the next time I am drunk.

Actually, I have thought from time to time that my issue may be with Paul. I can't say if there's anything to that, or if he's just the main one I recognize. Some day I will probably just sit and listen to things, to see what it is I haven't heard on the radio.

Hahah. I was actually noting to someone the other day that it's kind of funny, the holiday song I most like and the holiday song I most loathe are both by former Beatles. I had no idea for the longest time that "Simply Having A Wonderful Christmastime" was by Paul, because while he's probably my least favorite songwriter of the bunch, it's more because I find his songs predictable than actually annoying... and I HATE that song with a burning passion.

But basically the point is, there's a HUGE difference in songwriting styles the further on in the Beatles' career you go (and then on into solo careers), and Paul tends to write pleasant inoffensive pop songs (and his father was a jazz musician, so he grew up around music and composition). Lots of people like pleasant inoffensive pop songs. They're the ones that still get the most radio play. Meanwhile George got into eastern mysticism and started writing songs about spirituality ("Long Long Long" is actually written to God, and George is the reason why you find stuff like sitar on "Norwegian Wood"), and John had a stronger rock background and then got more interested in political activism and artistic experimentation (thanks to Yoko).

So chances are, most people will like some Beatles songs and not like others, and sometimes you really have to look deep to find the ones that are most interesting to your personal sensibilities.

Or you may go on hating the Beatles. I still say this is totally a fine opinion, despite the fact it's the polar opposite of mine. After all, like I said, I did date that metalhead who hated everything they did except "Helter Skelter". ;)
