(Anonymous) 2013-12-31 02:56 pm (UTC)(link)Clearly one is more special than the others, otherwise it wouldn't have been singled out for particular mention over those other SNAFUs.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-31 05:10 pm (UTC)(link)If it had been in a quiet moment between them, like the 'undone' scene on the Helicarrier, then yes, I'd argue for Budapest to be special. But something just thrown out in mid-battle banter, I'd be more inclined to think it one of many. Especially since Natasha finds their current situation to be so similar, despite the goddamned aliens involved, it really does give the impression that her and Clint have been through so many firefights together that she basically just sees the aliens as being an interesting quirk on a standard situation.
TLDR; Given the context (mid-battle banter), I think Budapest was more a comment on how their shared firefights were starting to blur together than a mention of an event that was special to them.

It was a funny throw-away line a) to indicate that their everyday job is full of this kind of craziness and b) for Natasha to be whistling in the dark a bit, writing off an alien invasion as not all that different from something they've done before.
