Contrary to popular opinion, there are very few 100% coldly evil people IRL, most people who do monstrous things or are grossly prejudiced, feel pain and vulnerability and can be perfectly nice and ~charismatic when they want to be. So when this is shown in fictional characters, suddenly heaps of people are like "but they're not really evil if they suffer!"
No, duh, they can be both. And it's okay to like them as evil characters, even ones on the path to redemption.

Because I see people acknowledging that she did bad things but those bad things don't define her. And I see people defining her by those bad things and being called out on a simple view of people.
