You're never going to get any sympathy here, secret maker. Most of these peeps worship show runners and hardly ever think anything is homophobic.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-04 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe if OP would make an argument.

Or really, any understanding of the meaning of homophobia more nuanced than "Those dudes are't bangin' so obviously homophobia"

(Anonymous) 2014-01-04 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
One argument is that they would have never put two males together, but were perfectly fine with a male and a female banging away.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-04 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
That's an assertion, not an argument.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-04 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
I just don't appreciate straight people throwing around the word "homophobic" when they really mean "not letting me watch pretty boys have sex".

(Anonymous) 2014-01-04 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
Mte.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-04 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
You just don't get it, do you? That's ok.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-04 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
Feel free to explain it to me, then.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-04 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
No, they get it all too well. Sorry if that's inconvenient.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-04 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
Hello.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-04 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
Uh.

Hi?

How's it going?

(Anonymous) 2014-01-04 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
And I don't appreciate straight people reducing legitimate concerns for gay representation to "ugh slash fans."

(Anonymous) 2014-01-04 06:28 am (UTC)(link)
Ha! I'll believe these legitimate concerns when I see them in the flesh. Sick of these "allies" who only care about gay issues as far as they suit their shipping needs.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-04 06:31 am (UTC)(link)
This, so fucking much.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-04 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Co-signed. I wish fen would stop using 'homophobia' and 'heteronormativity' when they're just butthurt about their slash ships getting canonically broken up by women.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-04 02:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Not straight, and my reaction was not to the secret but rather to the "people here are homophobic and don't listen" bs.

I will cut the name-calling and just say that if they had said it was heterosexist, I would have agreed with them. It's just as heterosexist as just about every other show out there. I just think homophobic is too strong a word. That, to me, means that it's actively promoting hatred of gay people.

Thank you for this. XD

It's true. We are all homophobic assholes and/or sycophantic toadies to showrunners. Our current fave is Moffat but I'm sure we have room to love the Elementary showrunners as well. If this annoys you maybe you should make your own community called elmntry_gossip? I'm sure you could find your own kind there.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-04 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
Nope. We just don't see all straight relationships on screen as automatically homophobic with no proof other than "because I say so". It's called logical argument, you may have heard of it. Or maybe not.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-04 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
"Worship show runners"... LOL. Yeah. Every time there's a Doctor Who secret, the amount of fandom love for Steven Moffat is just beautiful.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-04 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
It's true!

Why, just yesterday, I saw respected community user whose opinions everyone agrees with bringreligiontothewamwams talking about how much they enjoy Moffat's work.
