So a while back I stopped shaking my cane at the youngins and finally got that newfangled tumblr all the kids are talking about these days. I follow quite a few people on it, pretty much exclusively in game (largely FPS, but some survival horror and other) fandoms.

...I have never seen this horrible SJWpocalypse of which everyone speaks. Not once. I've seen a few mild "slut shaming is bad" and "women should follow their dreams" feminist posts that you'd have to be the world's most raging misogynist morlock to take issue with, a few "accept yourself" posts, and a few "female characters in games are awesome" posts.

Where is this supposedly happening, again? Because it's about six months now and it just does not seem to exist in my corner, at all.

Same. I don't see them, either. I don't doubt they exist, but - my corner of Tumblr is all about the pretty. And the occasional fanfic.

Or Game of Thrones! That's the one that finally had me unfollowing some people because I just couldn't roll my eyes so much anymore.

try sherlock etc

see this i don't understand because the fandom itself doesn't really have a high concentration of sjws, it's the huge anti-fandom that does, and they're way more crazy and vicious from what i've seen

this coming from someone not even directly involved in the fandom, i just enjoy observing wank

It's one of those things that really depends on what corner of the sandbox you play in. If you search for it you will find it though. Or rather, if you build a social media platform where you can be anonymous, the stupid will come.

However, as shown in some of today's secret threads, people raging against the SJW plague on the house of fandom can be just as obnoxious and wanky and can take up just as much space. Plus, there are a lot of reactionaries who classify anyone talking about anything to do with diverse and/or respectful representation as an SJW. So, you know, YMMV on what actually does or doesn't count as SJW-ism.

It happens, but it really depends on who you follow. I'm in some of the more popular fandoms (Teen Wolf, Sherlock, and stuff like Welcome to Night Vale) but I don't see it often on my dash either. However if you go into the tags it does sometimes pop up. Less than I expected (maybe I just get lucky), but it def exists.

I'm pretty careful about who I follow, and I still have a couple people on my list that I feel I might have to unfollow one day.

I'm surprised you haven't seen that much with being in the WTNV fandom. I'm not in the fandom whatsoever but I've seen a ton of SJW wank due to people's headcanons and interpretations of the characters.

I always hear about it on f!s but don't see that much of it personally. Granted, that might be because I mostly follow people (from f!s, actually) who reblog Nightvale art and don't typically check the tags but after every episode.

That said, one of my first forays into the WTNV tag ended in me being completely confused as to why people were saying Cecil Baldwin was a rapist and should be fired.

I've seen a few really disgusting SJW posts but those were usually linked to me versus actually showing up on my dash. I've been lucky too, I guess. SHRUG.

Certainly sandbox dependent. My dashboard is relatively clear, except for one POC history blog I follow and...I'm beginning to suspect one of the people I follow is a SJW because she goes on and on but I mostly just ignore her posts.

Aside from that, only really, really big things crop up (like the Rue racists) or maybe some fandom specific things.

You don't go finding it sjw, you start following someone and they slowly morph into a sjw

I think how much of that you see depends on what corner of tumblr you occupy. I'm strictly on the fandom side of things, following users who don't get reblogged a million times and are always at the center of some sort of new controversy in internet land. It was the same thing with LJ, unless you were on big wank comms like ONTD or something, you were unlikely to see that level of crazy away from such singularities.

It's very dependent on what fandom you're in, and how much controversy the central work itself generates, and who you follow. It is easy to avoid SJW nonsense, but in some fandoms doing so can also mean missing out on a lot of awesome fanworks and so people put up with it. However, this isn't true for every fandom.

In my experience, it tends to crop up most with motion picture type fandoms - namely movies and TV shows and some cartoons - and tends to lean towards those that, even if they are of a specific genre, are aiming for a very generalized audience. And, of course, it depends on who/what you follow.

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth! Just be thankful you've avoided it. :)

TBH, if you're talking fandom (or anything media-related), I think it happens in some fandoms a lot more than others as a "thing." Some fandoms have very little SJW wank, some have it, but it's dispersed among various individuals, and some have a whole group that have a number of specific issues that they keep coming back to/bringing up.
