8. -pats- You can't expect everyone to know La bohème. Yes, it's a classic, but .. it's still opera. It's really not that accessible to modern audiences unless they already have a thing for opera. =/ it's sad, but still the truth. Expecting someone to know La Vie de Bohème is an even LONGER shot unless they actually looked it up.

though don't get me wrong. Puccini is a god all should worship. Turandot ♥ ♥ ♥

But it's so popular! You'd think some people would have looked up the opera. :( But then, I kind of think more people should get into opera. *sigh* Maybe I'm just a snob...

DEAR GOD I WISH MORE PEOPLE WOULD LOOK IT UP. I love opera. *___* I always have, but I was totally alone in this love of mine. XD; but I only ever got to go thanks to student trips offered my my school's band. hence my comment, really. it's a sad state of affairs that incentive has to be offered for kids to go out and experience the opera these days.

but you're not a snob! ♥ just hoping for what may never come, sadly. XD;

IDK Rent much because, well, I can't stand it, but I'd hope if you were in the fandom you would check it out (I'm assuming La Boheme is the original version?)

I mean, at least when any of my fandoms have something like that I try to at least become familiar with it.

OH WAIT, are you talking in a general sense, like fans of Rent should be acquainted with the source material? (I was misunderstanding that for a while XD;)

La Boheme is not so much the original as the inspiration. Rent is more or less a very loose distillation, and puts a sort of happy ending tag on what was originally not a happy ending.

and La Boheme is SUCH a brilliant source. ): like the OP I really do wish more people would give it a shot.

I am yeah. Like, for example, I'm into Sailor Moon, so I read the mythological story of Selena and Endymion. Or reading about The Gallant Jiraiya or any handful of Japanese mythology if you're into Naruto.
