IDK Rent much because, well, I can't stand it, but I'd hope if you were in the fandom you would check it out (I'm assuming La Boheme is the original version?)

I mean, at least when any of my fandoms have something like that I try to at least become familiar with it.

OH WAIT, are you talking in a general sense, like fans of Rent should be acquainted with the source material? (I was misunderstanding that for a while XD;)

La Boheme is not so much the original as the inspiration. Rent is more or less a very loose distillation, and puts a sort of happy ending tag on what was originally not a happy ending.

and La Boheme is SUCH a brilliant source. ): like the OP I really do wish more people would give it a shot.

I am yeah. Like, for example, I'm into Sailor Moon, so I read the mythological story of Selena and Endymion. Or reading about The Gallant Jiraiya or any handful of Japanese mythology if you're into Naruto.
