The only thing that still stings about the prequels is the whole Anakin/Padme thing. I was not convinced by that romance at all, and I'm usually pretty easily convinced. No wonder people ship Padme/Obi-Wan instead.

As always I am alone in this, but I love the horrible, stilted romantic dialogue in Attack of the Clones. Anakin is 18 and he's not allowed to flirt with girls. His first attempts should be cringeworthy.

Yeah, the romance only went FUBAR during Revenge of the Sith. They were able to play a flirting couple but they were very boring and soppy when they were married and Padme was pregnant with the twins.

I still seethe that Padme died from 'heartbreak'. I mean, they could've said that she died from complications from bring thrown to a rock ground while heavily pregnant, but noooo, she died from heartbreak of Anakin's fall to the Dark Side. I heard that they retcon that but it still make me seethe that they even put that in in the first place. I mean, she was a person since she was a girl who had fight to get her voice heard and her authority respected. Not to mention 'death by heartbreak' in the media is almost always used for women to fridge some in some way.

I once wrote a Padme/Obi fic where they were cheating on Anakin so he actually had a real reason to turn to the darkside. The love of his life and his best friend betrayed him.

This I could see. Especially with that part at the end where he asks if Obi-Wan has visited her, and that other stuff he says in their final confrontation - I can't quite remember the substance of it, but it always made me think that that possibility was maybe on his mind.

There was this epis retelling someone did over on LJ years ago that I never finished reading where they were trying to save Anakin from that fate, but I could see how Obi-Wan's and Padmae's relationship could send Anakin into his major role. It was a very LONG fic, well written and I wish I could find it again, but It was DEFINITELY and Obi-Wan/Padme story. Hell, Luke and Leia were THEIR kids, not her's and Anakin's. I just never got far enough to see how they got thewm the whole "Skywalker" thingy and such and how it all would relate to the first films or if those would be rewritten in some way.

It was interesting idea anyway.

You know something is wrong when the hottest sexual tension of the movie happens between the Emperor and Anakin at the ballet.

Eh, YMMV, but the enitre beginning of teh third film was fucking Married Couple flirting and banter between Anakin and Obi-Wan.

.....there's a reason I shipped them so hard at one point. And the novelization for that movie DID NOT HELP. AT ALL.
