It's probably not, but something about that Riker pic just screams behind-the-scenes to me. Like Jonathan Frakes is being a super good sport and wholly embracing the cheese, while Marina Sirtis is just like "this is hilarious." Because it is.

And so fitting. They dressed all the women more or less like that in TOS, so it's only fair the men get outfits just as ridiculous in TNG. :D

It's not. Riker comes in with that on and both Deanna and Tasha think it's the funniest thing. (Though I'm sure your vision is what happened too.)

Riker's outfit is magnificent.

Every time I see things like this in sci-fi I just genuinely wonder if people really picture(d) future fashion like that.

You should have a look at a British sci-fi series called UFO, then. It's what 1970 imagined 1980 would look like. It's fabulous.

Also grim, gritty and cynical as hell. But that's part of why I love it, so.

I don't see what's wrong with what Picard's wearing, given that it's beach/ pool-wear. And he wears it well...
