I don't see why not? I have seen some good remakes. I hope they remake Never-ending Story. I love it, but it is really boring to watch as an adult.

CRETIN. I bet you like the Star Wars prequels and think The Last Airbender film is better than the cartoon.

Never seen the avatar movie or show. Don't care much about Start Wars. I have seen all six. I love Han Solo and Darth Maul.

Only morons and 'speshul snooflaeks' vocally hate the prequels.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-30 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
What about those of us who silently hate them? Are we also morons and "speshul snooflaeks"?

What the fuck is a speshul snooflaek anyway?

OK, I fucked up. What I mean't was 'I don't give a fuck if you hate it or not, don't act like a dick about it.'
Also that's a intentional mispelling of 'special snowflake'.

I thought hating the prequels was the prevailing opinion.

Can we dislike them? Because I dislike them though tbh it's really AoTC and RoTS that I don't like because I can't stand Hayden Christian as Anakin.

Not that I'm in favor of people being obnoxious dicks about the prequels, but I'm pretty sure that expressing the prevailing/majority opinion is the antithesis of 'special snowflake'.

Okay, I have to agree with the anon. Labyrinth should never be remade. It's...complicated. Labyrinth was basically a flop of Jim Henson. I know it's a cult classic now, but then...not so much. It was slammed by critics, so much so that it took a huge toll on Jim Henson. He became extremely depressed over it, and it ended up being the last film he ever directed before his unfortunate death. Now, though, the film has so many fans and is beloved by a ton of people...that Jim Henson never got the chance to see that, it breaks my heart. That's why I think it shouldn't be remade.

There will ever only be on Labyrinth.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-30 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
Well, that's depressing.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-30 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
Gets even more depressing when you learn that the reason he died was because he didn't want to bother his ex-wife or anyone else to take him to the hospital...

Did you ever see this version? Much better than the movies. It departs a lot from the novel, but it was a lot more engaging and entertaining than the movies.

i...i still find the venerending story enetertaining as an adult... :(

I kind of have to agree with this. Some things are perfect just the way they are.

I don't see a point to remaking it. It's - well, it isn't perfect, but there is nothing to be gained by remaking it. It was done as well as it could possibly be done. Now, a sequel, on the other hand...

(Anonymous) 2014-01-30 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
I'd ride that train like a two dollar ho. Because Jareth has been watching Sara and Toby... and someone's daughter has just said THE WORDS

(Anonymous) 2014-01-30 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
They tried doing a manga sequel, but... I don't think it's caught on. But then, this is why we have fanfic and lots of it.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-30 06:00 am (UTC)(link)
Well the manga also had horrible art, made the step-mother into an evil horrid person, and kinda ignore a lot of what people liked about the movies? Or what people were hoping for Sarah/Jareth hook ups.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-30 11:27 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly. I mean, yes, "Labyrinth" is a typical "Chosen One" story, but it did so many things so-wrong-its-right for me. Putting Toby in there was the main character... If the writer had paid attention to what "sells" in fandom, rather than "awesome, I've been tapped to do Labyrinth so I'll do it MY WAY!", I think it would have gone over better. It's not horribly written, and it has some interesting points, but when I compare it to, say, Pika-la-cynique's "Girls Next Door" or even Asherhyder's "Roommates" with the current story arc, which are unofficial fanworks, it suffers greatly in both art and squee factor.

/personal opinion

Okay, that was a pretty strong response but I can't bring myself to argue because OMG DAVID BOWIE. I can't see them replicating that magic again, especially not without Jim Henson. :(
