Well I'm not responding to this til the comments collapse so...

So...?

Toss-up between

1) driving past a string of police cars on the side of the highway early one morning, and noticing a pair of legs sticking out from under the white sheet, and

2) sitting at a bus stop watching a beagle get loose from its owner at the vet's office across the street, run across the 4-lane road toward me, and go under the wheels of a car before I could grab him

I dunno, dead people or gore doesn't really bother me too much. I wouldn't consider those things the worst thing I've seen.

In terms of making me feel bad, the worst thing I've seen is an obese diabetic woman who was confined to a wheel chair, suffering from bed sores, and with some of the most poorly-controlled blood glucose levels I have ever heard of, recently in hospital to amputate a gangrenous foot... in line buying donuts at one of the motherfucking Tim Hortons outlets that have popped up in our hospitals in the last ten years. She was there every day, whenever the nurses weren't watching her.

It was just the most depressing thing I've ever seen.

God, that sounds so utterly depressing. :(

When she got admitted she was septic, and just about to freaking die. Even that wasn't stopping her from going right back to killing herself as soon as she got the chance. I just... yeah. It's the worst thing I've ever seen.

Ugh, reminds me of when my mother told me on the phone she got a kindle and was reading this great book her friend recommended her: 50 Shades of Gray.

I may have been very close to suddenly dropping dead.

My Dad on his deathbed after having starved to death (complications from cancer). Double whammy of awful, right there.

On a smaller scale, seeing one of my cats still alive but dying after being hit by a car, her head partially caved in and one of her eyeballs bulging out. Poor little kitty.

As for that thread, well, that was fascinating, depressing and stomach turning all in one :/ People in the health care system do an amazing job.

A cat that had just been hit by a car. I had seen it on the other side of the road and then I heard (but thankfully did not see) the impact. I looked back over and saw it crawling frantically with its front legs - it's rear legs clearly useless. It was a very busy, multi-lane road with no lights or crossings for a long distance in either direction and there was no way I could get over to it. (There wouldn't have been much I could have done anyway, since it was kind of the middle of nowhere and I didn't have a car to take it to a vet or shelter.) This was at night and early the next morning I saw it lying dead on that side of the road, apparently not having made it very far. At least it probably didn't suffer for too long.

I am really sensitive around dead things, so no dead bodies besides poor roadkill animals and open casket funerals (ugh), which is pretty tame I guess..

I saw that russian murder video, honestly that creeps me way more than anything else.
I mean IRL I've seen dogs get hit by cars, my fave pet chicken torn apart all over my yard, suicide body being dragged out of a river (known hotspot), so many traffic accidents, train suicide (mostly just red, everywhere).
But the russian murder video takes the cake.

A man dragging a dog down the highway from his car. I stopped in the middle of the highway (nearly getting my friend and I killed), swooped in front of him to stop him, and ran back after screaming at him that he had a dog tied to the back of his trailer. The dog's feet were pretty bloodied, but we got her cleaned up and got some water in her, and sat with her and the man (he'd forgotten he'd tied her to the trailer because he'd gone into the bathroom, came out, and just started his car. Also, he was older, and absolutely horrified, and I was afraid he was gonna have a heart attack for having hurt his dog) until everyone calmed down.

I saw a car flip in front of me onto a railroad track on a rainy day, but helped make sure the guy got out safely. Before the train got too close.

I was walking my dogs with some friends, and a couple of chihuahuas ran out into the street to bark at us. The car didn't even slow down, just ran right over one of the dogs, without me being able to stop it.

The guy who died in the hallway outside my office. Aneurysm.

Driving to work down a hill, seeing a dog run in front of my car. Couldn't stop in time, but I heard it yelp as the tires ran over it. Looked in my rearview mirror and it went up in the air and flopped down onto the road. The owner ran out to get it, but I don't think it lived.

Jesus, please say you stopped. your comment makes it sound like you just kept driving.

A stranger's blue and shrivelled dick as he took a piss outside, against a church wall, in broad daylight, in winter.

I once (when I was 17 and volunteering at a museum) saw a woman squat to take a crap in the bushes, right in front of a big window and in plain view of everyone. I don't think she knew there were people behind the window at the time?

I saw a deer get hit by a semi and go flying through the air while on a road trip with my boyfriend (who had not yet attained boyfriend status at that point, but that's not really part of this story). Horrifying. D:

I'm not bothered by dead things, really, but that was brutal as fuck.

A small black animal squashed by a car on the side of the road, a few days after my black cat went missing. My mom pushed me back into the car to keep me from getting more than a quick look at it, and then looked at it longer and told me it was a dog. I can't believe she thought I was that gullible.

In terms of gore, I'd say it was a guy who'd just been shot in the chest and ended up collapsed in my living room. I wasn't particularly fazed by it, though. A paramedic even complimented how I kept my cool in that situation. All of that guy's blood took a while to get out of the carpet, though thankfully it came off my arms pretty easily.

In terms of depressing, when I was about 11, I was waiting at the schoolbus stop with my friends when this random baby ran out into the middle of the street. I managed to run out into the street and grab the baby before it was hit by anything and kind of just sat it on the patch of grass by the stop, assuming that there was probably a parent around somewhere about run out and grab it. My bus pulled up and I got on, but as the bus was pulling away, I looked out and a.) saw that there was NO ONE around to pick up that baby, and b.) it had gotten up and started running again, though thankfully this time down the sidewalk.

Never found out what happened to it.

The police burst through the barricade next to mine (full of strong union blokes they didn't want to tackle) and start bashing peaceful hippies sitting on the ground's heads in. Just disgusting and horrible. And then all the major papers outright made up that the hippies had ATTACKED the police. I will never 100% trust what I read or hear again.

A policeman aim with his lead baton and whack my pacifist girlfriend in the "orange zone" - her belly, when she was just standing doing nothing. She had to go to hospital.

A policeman ride over my pacifist girlfriend with his horse, because she wouldn't stop the horse. She still has after-effects.

An escaped asylum seeker cowering in my tent from the police, his chest bloody from self-injury. He was caught later that night.

My male friend who liked to wear an old black dress, who disappeared during a protest, and reemerged a couple of hours later after being kidnapped and beaten up by plain clothes policemen for being hippy faggot scum.

Jesus christ. That radicalised me.

If you don't mind me asking anon, where are you situated that all this shit is happening to you? :(
