Huh, even on long international flights? I know short-haul ones like starving you, but the handful of 14-hour economy flights I've taken (Sydney to SF or LA) always give you two meals and a snack bag.

Based on the things you listed, it sounds like you read & edit romance novels.

I couldn't do your job. As a writer, I honestly couldn't. It would just eat away at my soul.

But you know what? Why don't you try rewriting some of those romance novel tropes yourself?

I would honestly read the genre if it wasn't so skeevy & sexist. Sometimes I just want to read about somebody getting a happy ending, without all that sexist crap tacked onto the end.

We need romance writers who are willing to break through the limits of the genre. Maybe that person could be you.
