The OP's description about the cartoon does have nothing in common with Peter and the Wolf - do you even know what Peter and the Wolf is about?

Hi! Peter and the Wolf is a symphony about a little boy, Peter, and various animals, each of which is represented musically by a certain instrument. Disney made a cartoon of it in 1946.

The asshole (you) is represented by a sad slide whistle.

This thread is making me laugh.

"Do you even know what Peter and the Wolf is about?" is my favorite new way to ask if someone knows what they talking about. Similar to "Do you even go here?"

Let's make this a trend.

Re: Does anyone remember this?

(Anonymous) 2014-02-11 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
It is the only way to ask someone who clearly couldn't understand the original question.

But I'm happy that I was making you laugh! :)

[personal profile] fingalsanteater 2014-02-11 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
I don't even know why it was so funny. It really is the only way to ask that question. I think it's just the way I'm imagining you saying it. Like, kind of irritated and incredulous.

Re: Does anyone remember this?

(Anonymous) 2014-02-11 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly, it is about Peter not Beethoven and the animals do not turn into instruments. But again you lack reading comprehension.

And really: Did you get really confused about Peter and the Wolf? the only one acting like a asshole is you (again).

But the important thing is that you come across as condescending and patronizing as possible. Try to read first before you comment.

Re: Does anyone remember this?

(Anonymous) 2014-02-11 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
Don't be so harsh about chard, most people here know that reading comprehension isn't her strong point.

I always think it's hilarious when she answers disdainfully when she didn't even understand the question right.

Re: Does anyone remember this?

(Anonymous) 2014-02-11 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
Uh okay, I didn't know this. I just wondered why someone would give a false answer and act simultaneously as all-knowing.

Thanks for clarifying, I think I will stay out of arguments like this, seems too much like troll feeding.

So which member of the peanut gallery are you, exactly?

Re: Does anyone remember this?

She seems to have understood the question perfectly well.

You, however, seem to have an irrational hatred for a stranger on the internet.

Re: Does anyone remember this?

[personal profile] fingalsanteater 2014-02-11 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
Uh, OP said the instruments turn into animals, not vice versa. Peter and the Wolf is a viable guess based on OP's fuzzy childhood memory and the limited information.

Re: Does anyone remember this?

(Anonymous) 2014-02-11 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
DA

OP wrote about Beethoven and that instruments turn into animals. Peter and the Wolf is not about Beethoven and the animals there are only represented by different instruments.
I don't thinks that's a viable guess.
It doesn't help how chardmonster was phrasing her question at OP.

Re: Does anyone remember this?

[personal profile] fingalsanteater 2014-02-12 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
Dude, really? Fuzzy childhood memory could mean OP is confusing "Beethoven" with classical sounding music in Peter and the Wolf. Fuzzy childhood memory could mean OP is confusing "being turned into animals" with being represented by animals. You are being obtuse. You never thought you remembered something from childhood one way and then it turned out turned out you were mistaken?

Re: Does anyone remember this?

(Anonymous) 2014-02-11 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, I know the rule is to not explain the joke and I'm sorry chard, if I'm stepping on your toes here.

But that's why she said Did you get really confused about

If someone got really confused about Peter and the Wolf they might imagine it to be a little different, because that's what confused people do.

Re: Does anyone remember this?

(Anonymous) 2014-02-11 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Chard's original comment was pretty obviously related to the subject and there was nothing assholish about it, since the OP said that they were confused about their memories. You are just having a hateboner for her.

Do you even know what condescension is about?

But again you lack reading comprehension.

Haha, oh wow. Yes, I can't imagine why someone would mention Peter and the Wolf in a thread about a cartoon with musical animals.

Maybe they're wolf-stans?

All right, full disclosure.

I think you're one of the most intelligent and well-educated people here. I kind of look up to you. Yeah, you give people shit sometimes, but no more than any trolly anon (and sometimes less than the trolly anons). When you legitimately upset someone, you apologize.

I don't know why people hate you. I really don't. I think they're fucking stupid. And I'd rather read one of your posts any day than one of theirs.

The asshole (you) is represented by a sad slide whistle.

Aaaand just like that you go from defending your interpretation into being an obnoxious cunt.

It's sad I was reading your comment and nodding along, "Huh, yeah I suppose I could see it like...Oh chard why you gotta be such a dick?"

Re: Does anyone remember this?

(Anonymous) 2014-02-11 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Did you get really confused between Peter and Beethoven?

I'm sad that I wasn't here yesterday but I have the ultimate guide:

Chardmonster's guide to suck at commenting

1. Fail at reading

2. Your question should come across as arrogant and rude as possible (but without swearwords) : "Did you get really confused about Peter and the Wolf?" -> meaning: haha, you're so stupid (instead of i.e. "Did you mean perhaps Peter and the Wolf?")

3. When someone calls you out on your shit, give them an example that confirms(!!) the other commenter

4. Call the other commenter asshole

Result: No real help/answer for the OP; not understanding OP's question

Re: Does anyone remember this?

(Anonymous) 2014-02-11 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm like 98% sure that you're reading a rudeness into Chard's question that she never put there. That question doesn't have to mean "ha ha you're so stupid". It can just mean "Is it a possibility that you're misremembering Peter and the Wolf?" Which is a reasonable response, I think.

Anon's guide to being a pseudointellectual in fandom spaces

1. Accuse people of being unintelligent over a small disagreement

2. Make a hypocritical call for decorum after being incredibly insulting

3. Arrange complaint in list format so as to make information seem substantive

Re: Does anyone remember this?

(Anonymous) 2014-02-12 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
Accuse people of being assholes and insensitive over a small disagreement:

Nice job managing to be an asshole about both myself and pagans, though! There are plenty of ways to say what you did in a sensitive way.

Aha, so it's just you that is allowed to be insensitive!

Going back on your apologies (to case) and still thinking you did no wrong:

People only complained anonymously even though the mod was on their side, which is hilarious, but dropping it

Trolling for now reason:

Anansi is West African, while Coyote was a figure in a few western Native American cultures.

But I'd contend that ignorance is no excuse. Your ignorance of nonwestern mythology combined with your love of a genre more problematic than Game of Thrones makes you a racist rape-apologizer. If you're old enough to type on a message board, you're old enough to know this on your own.

Consider this a callout, 30 Rape Office

Good thing you're never insulting, never trolling, never insensitive etc.
(before you ask: this took 5 min to google)
