then I suppose the next question would be, how do I disable it, should I ever upgrade?

Hah, I always get complimented on how beautiful my veins are when I'm at the blood bank.

I waited, and I don't think I'm weird, just really, really lazy.

I feel you on that. I dropped my best friend as well because of basically the same thing. If I can be married and make time for you, you sure as hell can spare some time away from your boyfriend to make time for me,

I think you need to have unapologetic geek attacks! Did you know they brought back the old voice actor to voice MegaBob in My Two Bobs? That episode was a bit frustrating though, since nothing seemed to be going Bob's way, but I was stupid happy Megabyte was back anyway, and that he was extra threatening on top of that. Not that I minded the less threatening moments.

TRIGGERS!

(Anonymous) 2014-02-12 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
Just saw a "warn for these triggers" list that includes all the commmone ones like rape, assault, abuse, and even spiders, puke and clowns, which OK.

Not reasonable: IMAGES OF ESCALATORS. SNAPPING FINGERS.

WHAT IS THIS???

Why do you have a problem with smelly, no-talent dumbasses?

It's some people's fault for being smelly, but not all, and it's definitely not a person's fault if s/he's talentless and/or dumb. Why do you think that it's okay to look down on someone for lacking a certain amount of intelligence or for not having any talent?

From the classic Catholic perspective, that's exactly the problem. 9_9

Directed toward my dad. While I was shopping with him. I was the only one with him. Ew.

what was this a warning for? a fanfic, someone's blog...?

Have children changed so much that they now have to be protected from fictional characters' mortality?

It's not that children have changed per se, but that the (developed) world has changed. When The Hobbit was published in the mid-1930s, I believe it was 1 out of 20 kids who wouldn't survive to adulthood. (Which was a huge improvement over previous decades, but still not great.) Pretty much every child would've seen a friend or schoolmate--or even a brother or sister--die at a young age. In that context, the idea of sanitizing children's entertainment by scrubbing all the death out of it would've been absurd.

Of course, you're absolutely right that fiction is the perfect way to teach children about death; they're still going to experience the death of a loved one eventually, after all. But declining child mortality rates have helped create an environment in which certain adults have the luxury of believing--rather deludedly--that children don't need to and shouldn't worry about death.

Of the ones people have already said, I've gotten compliments on my "radio voice", my veins and my eyebrows.

Another weird thing I've been complimented on are my cuticles and how my nails have such a nice, natural shape. Thanks, I guess???

Being bullied in school sucks, but "the feelings of ostracism and 'otherness'" engendered by that are definitely not the same as that engendered by being a slave.

There is no comparison. Absolutely none.

Exactly. I managed to work full time, go to grad school and hang out with you. But I will give him credit, even though we didn't speak for months, he still texted me on my birthday.

Another friend of mine actually got better about talking to me after she got married and I'm forever grateful for that.

I'm going to make sure I will opposite the opposite of that (for the internet) whenever I see you in stream then. To reaffirm your faith in the world, that is the weight I will carry on all noble style.

It means a lot in the current climate, when the networks are losing tons of viewers to cable and need shows like this to stay relevant in the industry. NBC also doesn't have to pay to produce it and it attracts a profitable demographic, so it's a good deal for them.
