I don't know why some people have to act like Disney movies are all negative or positive. Yes they have issues and yes there are good messages too. Some people are more sensitive to one issue over another so they will care more about one problem or virtue than others. That doesn't invalidate all the other stuff.

People really seem to have a very all-or-nothing mentality about pretty much all forms of media. If a story was flawed, it must be the worst thing ever with no redeeming qualities whatsoever! If a story was good, it must be the most perfect thing ever with zero flaws at all!

People rarely take the middle ground and say "Pocahontas was trying to do something meaningful with its messages about the evils of prejudice and hatred, and how they can be stopped if people are willing to just try to get to know each other and see from more than one point of view. Pocahontas also took some downright insulting liberties with actual history and painted the past as a lot more rosy and happy-ending filled than it really was." Moderate views are verboten on the internet, it seems.

Which is a shame because I find the discussions that happen when you acknowledge both the positives and negatives really interesting.

How dare you be logical in this thread. How dare you.
