If you're accepting criticism in these thread, I'll give you my two cents: I do agree that the deleting and frozen comments can be annoying. Especially because most of the time I feel like you're doing it just to humor the Tumblr userbase. I'm okay with deleting things like "homosexuals are deviants", though.

Could you give examples of topics frozen "just to humor the Tumblr userbase"? I'm a bit confused by that comment, and also can't seem to think of a thread that's been frozen that hasn't deserved it. Honest question.

Why specifically Tumblr? I don't really think Tumblr or social justice(I assume by Tumblr you mean social justice stuff?) has anything to do with threads like "so who do you hate?"

And to be fair, freezing threads stops the Tumblr userbase from continuing as much as it stops anybody disagreeing with them. The people arguing on the social justice side have been pissed at me for freezing threads and not allowing them to continue to tell other people they're wrong about stuff, too. Take freezes as kind of more, "no more of this from either side, please" instead of "this topic is offensive!" or something.

Tumblr kids are the ones always crying because someone offended their feelings and "muh trigger warnings", sometimes I've seen people asking for threads to be frozen because they were personally offended and not because it was an offensive comment (this is a very Tumblr-like attitude). And this pisses me off. C'mon, everything will be offensive to someone somewhere.

No, yeah, I agree with that! Unless something is really blatant like "I hate gays/let's hate on people" or something, I try to leave them until actual wank is happening. I don't automatically freeze every single thing people request.

Can I just say something on freezing threads?

Sometimes we all just need to chill out, take a step away from the keyboard and reflect on what really matters in life. And sometimes we don't always have that self control. If the thread has turned into a clusterfuck, then freezing it gives us a chance to take a much needed deep breath.

But this is the Internet, not real life. No one will be hurt because two kids spend 2 hours discussing if atheists are dicks or religious people are the ones that are shit. If they are bored and want to waste their life doing this, let them be.

There's absolutely nothing inherently wrong with two kids, in their own place in their own time, spending 2 hours discussing if atheists or dicks or religious people are dicks, provided both want to do that.

When they do it in the middle of the room in a club full of other people, though, it causes a disturbance. It's not about what they're saying, it's that they're doing it here and getting rather loud and angry and starting fights. Then the staff people escort them out. (If they want to continue on the sidewalk or outside or whatever, it's not my business!)

There are a lot of us who're very grateful to you and like your way of modding, Case. Someone already mentioned their preference in freezing vs. deleting, which I was going to point, so I'll only add that the comparison to a club is quite accurate.

Disagreeing and posting controversial, thought-provoking things, is great and we've had a lot of those threads. But some people don't seem to grasp that humoring a thread that will just get others hurt with no purpose beyond that is entirely another bag of dicks (pun intended :/)

Hear, hear! I totally agree.

There's no such thing as a safe space on the Internet, but Case provides us with an enjoyable one. I'm not even saying "nice", because it's the Internet! But yeah, it's a place where we can have our fun, and different kinds of fun even, which means:

- It's Case's space and he makes the rules.
- It's an enjoyable place, and we all should collaborate to keep it so.
- If Case deems there's something making his "club" less enjoyable and annoying the other "patrons", he has the right to nip that before it becomes a brawl.

The only completely unmodded places are in the Deep Web, jeeze. Even 4chan kicks people out sometimes.

There are real living people on the other end of the computer, and if you don't think spending hours throwing insults at each other isn't having an impact on their lives I don't know what to tell you. But I don't see anything productive coming from endless back and forth over who is more shitty.

If nothing else, it stretches the page and is irritating to scroll past.

But the thing is that no one is forcing them to do it! They can stop at any time and leave the thread. There has been nights when I was so bored that I spent hours shitposting and "fighting" with people on the Internet. We both knew that we were just trolling each other, nothing wrong there.

Yeah, and if someone is yelling out vile things and walking around trying to start pointless drama and arguments at a party I can always leave. But the point is it ruins the atmosphere and most people at the party don't appreciate it and would be very happy to see that party ruiner shut down.

Is it that hard to understand? This isn't the 90s anymore, for god's sake. If someone is trolling or shitposting, ignore them. Otherwise you're even worse than them because if you continue replying they will continue trolling. Ignore them and they'll get bored and will stop.

Then the other person is brain dead. Subtle trolling is pretty hard, most of the time is clear as daylight when someone is trolling.

The internet is real life. Do you think you're discussing things with computers in some sort of void?

Most of the time when I post here it's not the real me but my Internet persona that is based on me but it isn't me. Real me wouldn't waste their time writing this.
