Taxes!

Currently getting hit with 90s nostalgia while I deal with "Chat Support" as I try to do my taxes because for some reason, the efile system doubled the numbers I typed in for miscellaneous income. Blah.

How are y'all's tax filing going, if you do it?

Did mine and my SO's in like 30 mins. I would've waited but my SO wanted me do ours and he wouldn't stop asking so I did them just to shut him up.

People. If you just have like a W-2 and maybe a few other forms like a 1098-T and that's pretty much it, just use free file software from irs.gov if your income is under the thresholds (usually 59k to 39k). It's so easy and you save money. I just have W-2s and sometimes 1099s and have never had a problem. Most software analyzes your entries to determine if you need to pay additional tax on distributions or are eligible for credits.

Wheew, all done! $350 federal refund, but I know I'll lose a chunk of that to the state. I hate that my governor is pushing his hardest to eliminate income tax and just do a jacked up to the moon sales tax, but...I'm pretty sure I'll benefit when/if it happens.

We haven't done our taxes yet. We usually go to H&R Block just because we're married and have a house and Roth IRA's and other fun stuff that I'm not sure how to calculate in. But it seems that each year they charge more and more to file. :/

I've had awful experiences with Block, and they are super expensive. Generally happy with Liberty, if there's one in your area.
