I see Sam/Jack only because Daniel is not Sam's "type" and in the 90's female characters needed "love interests."

I'd love to see what they would do with Sam if this was a new show. You know -- would she honestly be too brainy to connect on that level with someone else? Because that's always how I saw her.

A good chunk of the first episode with McKay in it is the plot line and the point that Sam was never going to get with him.

Oh God no, please God no, both of them are insufferable. Only one of them made insufferable interesting to look at, though. (Rush. McKay was just annoying, all the way through.)

What do you mean in the 90's? Have you watched any currently-airing genre TV with female characters? They all have to have "love interests" still.
