Make a list of problems you regularly confront or think you have a good chance of having to confront in the future. Write down what you think would be a good way of confronting each of them, with caveats depending on different varieties of problems.

Next time one of those problems comes up, try to follow your own advice, adjusting for the circumstances.

When a problem you've never thought about before comes up, think "what would [insert person you admire] do?" And, if feasible/appropriate, do that.
