I know what you mean. I spent a year in SPN (in 2012), and for the most part I saw wank and drama only from a distance. I heard about a fair bit, but only through friends and such.

In fact, for the most part, that's how I have experienced all fandoms I've been through. I am simply not a hugely confrontational type of person, so I don't go throwing myself into the big dramas.
