Most Lannister fans and Jaime/Cersei fans tag their anti-Jaime/Brienne posts, though, so you can tumblr savior them. Or at least they're willing to do so if you ask them.

Also, let's be real, lots of Jaime/Brienne shippers are absolutely disgusting towards Cersei, Jaime/Cersei, and Jaime/Cersei shippers. I don't care about either ship, but shippers from both sides have been pretty horrible about this whole thing.

This. Jaime/Cersei vs. Jaime/Brienne is pretty much the biggest ship war/ship drama in the fandom, full of 'Brienne is ugly and Jaime/Brienne will never happen' on the one side and 'Cersei is an evil vagina monster who corrupted poor innocent Jaime, who should now find love with Brienne' on the other.

...what is wrong with me that this makes me want to be a part of this fandom?

(Anonymous) 2014-02-19 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
...How can you be a fan of this series and so profoundly miss the point that no one and nothing is entirely right or wrong, fair or foul, good or evil?

(Anonymous) 2014-02-19 06:00 am (UTC)(link)
For a series as pointedly grey as GOT, the fandom for it is surprisingly rigid and black-and-white. It's both bizarre and frustrating.

I have never seen a Jaime/Brienne shipper say anything rude about Jaime/Cersei shippers. I don't know, is that really a thing?

(Anonymous) 2014-02-19 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
(I should point out that I only follow Jaime/Brienne shippers and that I've also never seen them be rude about Cersei)

(Anonymous) 2014-02-19 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
I haven't either, although there is a fair amount of fic that makes her a one-dimensional villain. Geez, at least step her up to TWO dimensions, people!

Unfortunately yes. There are a LOT of Jaime/Brienne shippers who think that Cersei is an evil temptress who seduced poor little woobie Jaime and made him do all those bad thing while Jaime on his own is apparently a sweet guy who just needs a nice lady like Brienne to show him how to be a good man. Which is disgusting on so many levels, from entirely absolving Jaime from his crimes (you know, the Jaime who almost murdered a little child, something which CERSEI THOUGHT WAS STUPID), vilifying Cersei and reducing Brienne to nothing but an instrument in Jaime's character arc rather than a character in her own right.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-19 12:04 pm (UTC)(link)
That's different than being rude to rival shippers though. I mean, sure it's inaccurate, but that alone isn't the same as insulting Jaime/Cersei shippers.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-19 07:02 pm (UTC)(link)
If you say those things in ship/character tags, that is pretty rude. Not to mention all the 'how can you ship Jaime/Cersei, that's disgusting, what's wrong with you?' posts or people actually leaving anon hate in people's askboxes for daring to express their dislike of Jaime/Brienne on their own personal blog. Soooo ... pretty rude, if you ask me.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-19 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
OP here. This comes back to my original problem with most Jaime/Cersei bloggers posting hate aimed at Jaime/Brienne. People can post what they like on their blogs as you say, but finding a Lannister blog that DOESN'T post hate is almost impossible. I don't agree with people sending anons in response to the hate, because that's equally as immature and doesn't benefit either side, but it'd be nice to find a blog that didnt hate on either ship in the first place.

Ugh yes. I ship both pairings pretty hard and I've seen a lot of nastiness from both sides. I've seen less cliquishness, condescension and elitism from Jaime/Brienne shippers though, I'll give them that.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-19 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
Same. The Jaime/Cersei shippers get so nasty at times that you'd be excused for thinking that they all might actually be Cersei.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-20 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Where? Where are these Jaime/Brienne who are supposed haters of anything involving Cersei?

I've been involved in at least two J/B comms and most of the folks there either liked her, were fascinated by her, or were just indifferent to her. Very few outright despised her and none bashed her character for the sake of making J/B look good.

Hell, some of them even shipped J/C just as much if not more than J/B. (At least that was true at the Jaime x Brienne boards last I checked.)

(Anonymous) 2014-02-20 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
It's still true. I don't see any Cersei hate from any of the Jaime/Brienne shippers I know. In fact, a good number of them are just as excited about the Altar scene next season as any J/C shipper. I really don't think the hate is as much of a problem from the J/B side of things. It seems more like some Lannister take the existence of Jaime/Brienne shippers as a slight against them.

"Also, let's be real, lots of Jaime/Brienne shippers are absolutely disgusting towards Cersei" - Where's your proof? I went looking and I only found the opposite.
