Re: Presented without Comment
(Anonymous) 2014-02-25 12:53 am (UTC)(link)I do, however, get carded for OTC cold medicine, which always throws me because that never used to be required and I don't get sick often enough that I remember the change. When the cashier asks for ID, my mind always goes to the most innocuous thing in my shopping basket, e.g. "I need to show ID for socks?"

(Anonymous) 2014-02-25 01:42 am (UTC)(link)Like other anon said, pseudoephedrine is used to make meth. These days, most places keep that stuff behind the pharmacy counter so it's harder to steal (you don't need a prescription to get it, but you have to go up and ask for it). I get carded for things like NyQuil, which I can just pull off the shelf. I've heard you can get drunk off of cough syrup, which I think is why they card for it, but I've had to show ID even in for the lozenge form. There I am, half delerious from a cold, and I'm like, "Driver's license? Bwuh? *snifflecough*"

(Anonymous) 2014-02-25 02:14 am (UTC)(link)I got carded for buying a diuretic once - I use them during my period to avoid bloating. Still not sure what the reasoning behind that one was.
