Re: Presented without Comment
I need to show my ID every time I get my BC prescription, and I'm going to a goddamn university pharmacy. I can't think of a less fundy environment.
Re: Presented without Comment
I've never had to present my ID for any prescription or procedure. I get the prescription from the doctor, fill in the relevant part of the form, and hand it to the pharmacist in whichever pharmacy I choose to go to, which depends on where I got the prescription from, and what time of day it is.
Even when I was on tamazepam, I was never asked for ID. Nor, to be relevant to the discussion, was I IDed when I went to get my long-term birth control replaced last month.
I think I'd be shocked if a pharmacist asked me for ID, especially for something that is not in danger of being used recreationally.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-25 12:33 am (UTC)(link)this is regardless of what your scrip is for; I never got scheduled substances, this was for antibiotics and GERD meds.
Re: Presented without Comment
It's a barrel of lols just to get some damn antibiotics.
Re: Presented without Comment
The jobcentre has a note on my file to not ask me for my number as I can never remember it without looking at my phone, which you're not meant to do.The details will be printed somewhere on the prescription you've handed over.Dear people in non-US countries in this thread:

And yeah, other people are relevant as long as they're making clear where they are. Because this is an international website.
Hell, you don't see MakingExcuses going "THIS THREAD IS FOR NORWEGIANS ONLY, YOUR RACECAR DRIVERS ARE IRRELEVANT.

HOWEVER, sometimes subject line changes are easy to overlook.
And anyone is allowed to comment on their own experiences no matter what country they live in.
Re: HI RADFEM ANON
It would be a bit lonely tho, me and the like one Norwegian Anon who shows up once in a while, can't I at least make it Scandinavian? Ohhh or on the forum that shall not be named that I used to frequent years ago had a European thread! I should make that!

Re: Dear people in non-US countries in this thread:
and I am guilty in starting a discussion in how medicine is prescribed differently in different parts of the world, but at no point in time did I say that my countries way is better, heck at one point I criticised it...Re: Presented without Comment
(Anonymous) 2014-02-25 12:53 am (UTC)(link)I do, however, get carded for OTC cold medicine, which always throws me because that never used to be required and I don't get sick often enough that I remember the change. When the cashier asks for ID, my mind always goes to the most innocuous thing in my shopping basket, e.g. "I need to show ID for socks?"

(Anonymous) 2014-02-25 01:42 am (UTC)(link)Like other anon said, pseudoephedrine is used to make meth. These days, most places keep that stuff behind the pharmacy counter so it's harder to steal (you don't need a prescription to get it, but you have to go up and ask for it). I get carded for things like NyQuil, which I can just pull off the shelf. I've heard you can get drunk off of cough syrup, which I think is why they card for it, but I've had to show ID even in for the lozenge form. There I am, half delerious from a cold, and I'm like, "Driver's license? Bwuh? *snifflecough*"

(Anonymous) 2014-02-25 02:14 am (UTC)(link)I got carded for buying a diuretic once - I use them during my period to avoid bloating. Still not sure what the reasoning behind that one was.
