Nah, it's bullshit.

Dangerous bullshit to be preaching to strangers.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-25 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, better to just shut up, behave, and put your faith in the hands of people who don't even know you enough to even KNOW what's in your best interest.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-25 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
leaving someone who is potentially a danger to themself or others to fend for themselves is never in their best interest. ever.

Several psychiatrists who treated me were completely incompetent morons, up to the point of it being laughable. I'm not talking about one single occasions, I'm talking about at least 5 of them. Or, you know, every one who actually tried to treat me, except one of my school's psychologists, who - lo and behold - was actually not "qualified" to treat me. It was suck a fucking joke. Combined with my experiences and those of my friends I have ZERO faith in psychiatric care. Hell, I don't even consider them real doctors. I don't even consider it a real science.

I wouldn't put my faith in the hands of one of these "professionals" again if you paid me money. I'd rather take my chances.

>how is this point being lost on you?

It isn't. I just think there are worse things than death.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-25 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
Are you trolling?

(Anonymous) 2014-02-25 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
nope.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-25 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
Paranoid, then? Either way, stop forcing your extreme view on people who might be in crisis, that's shitty.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-25 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
If they're in a crisis it's important they know their rights and their options.

I'm starting to consider you are trolling, because nobody could be so obtuse.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-25 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
nope

(Anonymous) 2014-02-25 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
ok, so you are just stupid then.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-25 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
I love you too <3

"how can you judge that they were "incompetent morons"?

Because they believed their own bullshit, and completely nonsensical fabrications. For example, one of them got it in their head I have PTSD and must be an abuse victim. Another one even called in my mother to talk about whether she had a "normal" pregnancy. Another one thought that me reading superhero comics was a problem. PTSD guy also thought my not being interested in a relationship at 19 was not normal. Seriously, I WISH I was making this shit up, but I couldn't if I tried.

Clearly, I'm not going to convince you. But in my experience I encountered more harmful people than helpful ones, and while I might just have an unusually shitty experience, I simply do not believe my experience would be an isolated incident. The only thing that therapy did for me was waste my time, and my parents' money.

you sound like a textbook case of narcissistic personality disorder.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-25 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
Delightful, another idiot trying to be an armchair psychologist. Bravo!

(Anonymous) 2014-02-25 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
nayrt
whether or not you're a narcissist (which you absolutely fucking are, and a dangerous one too), the bullshit you're spouting is exactly the same shit that my abusive ex vomited all over me any time i tried to make him take responsibility for his own actions. you are so fucking high on yourself that you can't see that people can't read your mind, that you're hurting the people you claim to want to help, and that you are the problem. i bet you've lost friends. i bet you've told yourself that it's just because the world is against you and you've done nothing wrong. newsflash: you are a shitty goddamn excuse for a human being and i hope someone pours maple syrup in your underwear drawer.

You really do sound like a troll at this point, especially considering the way you only reply to stella, who is a bit of a controversy magnet re: mental health issues.

I can see how that is - you have a pretty flat, direct way of expressing yourself re: mental health. It's gonna rub some people the wrong way. That said, usually you're the reason I don't feel like I need to post in these threads (I'm on the other side of the fence, as in having been in and out of treatment for a while and generally profiting greatly from it).

(Anonymous) 2014-02-25 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
I answered to sarilia before. Franky stella just pissed me the hell off when talking about mental health - not just in this post, but in this post specifically, and I decided to speak my mind today.

AYRT

Yup. Putting your faith in medical professionals sounds just about right.
