Anyway, almost all of the bad guys in GoTs are fairly good looking.

Not Ramsay. He's specifically described as loathesome to behold, slimy, or with lips that are perpetually greasy or coated in spit. He's canonically an ugly bastard.

It makes it easier for you to hate a character if they're ugly? Really?? I'd never thought I'd say this but that sounds really fucking problematic

I was going to say it sounds shallow. But yeah.

(We've had a rash of rather shallow-sounding secrets lately...)

Ugly = bad, evil, vile, corrupt, disgusting.
Pretty = good, pure, moral, noble.

It's how things have been coded for centuries (at least), popular media doing even more to drive these concepts into our psyches.

Yeeah. On a related note, it makes me irrationally angry when people justify the actions of a villain because they are played by a hot actor/described as hot-looking. Like, NO.

It's kind of funny, because if you read Sansa's chapters in the books, she regularly judges people as good or bad depending on how attractive they are. It makes me laugh that some people in the fandom are on the same intellectual level as a fourteen year old.

Honestly, dude looks rather average to me.

Yeah, I don't know, show!Ramsay looks pretty fucking ugly to me.

He IS ugly like in the books. Yuck.

I don't see why people who are ugly inside should always be portrayed as ugly on the OUTSIDE as well. Physical beauty =/= inner or innate virtue, even if the Greeks did pass that idea down to us in the modern day, and I think that always making the "bad guy" an ugly lug goes against reality. Plenty of people who are moderately to very physically attractive have done perfectly awful things.

The first thing I said to my room mate when we watched this together was "he's way too good looking to be Ramsay", but as the episodes progressed toward the end of season 3, I think his acting skills have outweighed my initial reaction.

I'd rather have an Ramsay Snow/Bolton that's too good looking than one who can't act like Ramsay.

If you ask me, the casting of Daario Naharis and Loras were worse decisions.

I don't imagine Ramsay like he appears in the show (which is really rather average), but my mental image is closer to him than it is to the art you chose.

And aren't Ramsay and Roose both supposed to be fairly unremarkable looking but for the creepy light eyes? Roose has a cultivated, commanding presence and Ramsay is more fleshy and brutish.

lol you can't hate a person, regardless of how disgusting, evil and one-dimensional (all things that apply to Ramsay) they are, if they're attractive? You sound like a terrible and shallow person, OP. Work on fixing that.

You aren't at all impressed by his acting, though? I think he's pretty average looking, but I love how well he plays up the maniacal glee of being a sick, merciless fucker. Those big light blue eyes especially. He's so creepy.

I find the actor absolutely repulsive. It's perfect casting as far as I'm concerned.

Considering one of the points of the books is to deconstruct the beautiful = good, ugly = evil trope that is so prevalent in fantasy (and culture in general), good going there OP.
