I used to participate, but I have various grudges against the current mods/their circle of friends and then last year they went IN on me for not stanning Martha Jones correctly. So I'm not participating in the comments this year.

maybe thats because you're one of those retards who stans for any and every character who is a minority in some way (poc, queer, etc.) only because they are a minority, claiming they are some complex amazing misunderstood character who mean straight whities dislike only because they aren't straight and white too :'[

Man, I've been lurking in fandom for too long, I need to dive back into it properly soon...

Sorry to hear that, OP. Maybe temporarily stop following them? Just until the month is over, anyway.

Not the OP, but basically the only solution is to stop logging into LJ at all for several weeks, which many people would find a less than ideal solution. FMM turns hundreds of otherwise fine people into terrifying mirror universe versions of themselves and it's horrifying to watch.

I enjoy it, but at the same time it seems like its the same characters from the same fandoms every year. I wish they'd change the rules to switch things up.

yeah, that's my problem with it
at least this year they're only taking nomms from shows/tv that happened within the last 2 years

but i'm still annoyed that my favorite character wasn't even listed as a choice to vote on for the show i love

To be honest, I don't even really... get it. So I just ignore it, for the most part.

The craziness this brings out in some people really confuses me. Your fave character is the most popular on LJ and...?

It's like any awards show, really. The awards have absolutely no value, but people get very excited when their favorites winning and very upset when their favorites losing.

Some people are actually insecure about their likes and dislikes for some reason. Perhaps this is all some sort of validation for them?

Does it have anything to do with basketball? Does it have anything to do with March Eridan?

Aww, man. I missed it this year.

Oh well. No one I ever nominate gets in on the ballot anyway.

I hate it, too, but mostly because my faves get voted down almost instantly. But FMM stanning is why I started watching Fringe, Community & Parks and Rec so I think it's kind of good for something.

I've been so awful about misfires these days.

I love what fandom march madness used to be. I hate pretty much everything that it's become. This is the first year I'm just not doing it.

I for one embrace the madness.

But I wish we had more options when it came to the nominees. I can't do my best stanning if I don't love the character.

And you know something needs to be fixed when Molly Hooper gets past the first round.

But she's clearly everyone's ~favorite character!

I know the rules say that 'this is not your stand against the patriarchy' but it's become just that in several categories.
