Sounds promising. I'd check it out. Though not with male versions of main heroes. Anyway the ponies don't read to me as female, they're just... ponies. Maybe Rarity and Pinkypie, one has long hair, another is very pink. Flattershy is faminine also because of her long eyelashes. I don't remember if they voiced the characters unisex.

er, they're definitely female ponies. even if for some reason someone wasn't aware of this while watching the regular show, the movie confirms it when twilight sparkle is taken to an alternate universe where all the ponies are human and she and her friends are definitely women

Aside from how bizarre this is, I'm pretty sure they've been referred to as girls at some point and Twilight Sparkle has been declared as a Princess so I think it's pretty safe to assume that they're supposed to be seen as female (not that I really think that was ever in question)

I've watched the first two seasons some time ago and to me they were just ponies. Of course since then I gathered that they're all girls except for the small dragon, which is a little weird come, by the way.

There was a Scandinavian-sounding pony photographer in one episode who made Fluttershy a model and that was what she sounded like.

It was Green Is Not Your Color from the first season, which is one of my favorite episodes! I always love episodes where Rarity and Fluttershy are featured front and center.
