(Anonymous) 2014-03-17 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)I have a lot of cavities and need to get my teeth scaled (I think that is what he said). All in all it is going to cost $2000+. Which...there is no way I can afford. He gave me the bill. I paid for my exam and x-ray, scheduled for a teeth cleaning ($250), and then sat in my car and cried.
And I will be losing half a day of work for the next appointment. You know, to add insult to injury I guess.
Anyone else having a better day?

(Anonymous) 2014-03-18 02:16 am (UTC)(link)healthcare.gov - dental may be available
(Anonymous) 2014-03-18 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)-Question: What type of coverage do you need?
-Check "Dental." If your state has its own exchange, you'll be directed there, and whether or not you can get dental depends on your state government. If your state defaults to the Federal program, there's a decent chance you can get dental insurance. Again, this will depend somewhat on your state, but you can get dental in Missouri for less than $20/month.

A lot of places are really good about payment plans; I would ask about that.
I know it sucks to shell out so much, but dental health has been connected (in bizarre and weird ways) to general health in so many studies that I think it's really important to have a healthy mouth. /my two cents
