HAHA I'M THE PERSON WHO ALWAYS MENTIONS THAT SHINJI MASTURBATED OVER ASUKA'S COMATOSE BODY IN EOE WHENEVER ANYONE TALKS ABOUT ASUKA BEING THE ONLY ONE WHO WAS ABUSIVE IN THEIR RELATIONSHIP. I THINK QUITE A FEW OF THE FANS ON TUMBLR HATE ME.

But yeah, I'm disappointed too. For all the flaws that the anime has, I think it's superior to Rebuild. I obviously realize that Rebuild is trying to do something entirely different with an entirely different characterization of Shinji, but it's simply not as interesting to me. I realize things are going to be packed more tightly in a theatrical release as opposed to an anime, but Rebuild is simply too Shinji-centric for me. I miss all the development all the other characters got, and I'm especially resentful that Asuka got shafted so much since she's my favorite.

I wish more people on tumblr were willing to to talk about about shit besides Shinji+Kaworu because there's honestly only so much meta you can write, and there's so many other fascinating relationships highlighted -- especially in the anime. However, it would be hypocritical for me to hate on the Kawoshin fans too much because I'm hoping there's some more Asuka/Mari bait thrown in the fourth movie for the yuri fans.

No, that's sexual abuse. You're telling me that someone going into a person's hospital room, turning them over and exposing their breasts, and then jacking off to them isn't sexual abuse? What Shinji did was completely nonconsensual. If someone did that in real life and was caught, they would be arrested and registered as a sex offender.

Jesus Christ. I can't believe I actually have to explain this to someone.

Nayrt, but until I saw the actual scene, I thought people saying "Shinji masturbated over a comatose Asuka" meant "Shinji [went to his room and] masturbated to [thoughts of] Asuka while she was incidentally in a coma elsewhere [with the coma potentially entering his fantasy]". And then when it turned out to be literally over her, there was not enough D: in the world.

Nobody else likely mentions it because by the point in the story when that incident occurred, things were just so irreparably fucked up on every front that it just seemed par for the course. Asuka's abuses stood out more to me because they happened back when the story still had a good deal of focus on relationships, and silly me, I actually thought they had half a chance of working out (yeah, I liked Asuka/Shinji). By the time of EoE, I was just like, "Nope, they would all be better off dead."

Yes, I understand that, but it still frustrates me that many people condemn Asuka for the way she treated Shinji but then treat Shinji's actions toward Asuka as a colossal joke.

Honestly, yeah, I like Asuka/Shinji too, but I like it in a fucked up, twisted sense. They're really horrible for each other, and they hurt each other, but they have a lot of the same problems. They just deal with them in two totally different but equally destructive ways.

Hey, Asuka wasn't even conscious at the time, no harm no foul there. Shinji was the one whose ego she enjoyed crushing on a daily basis until he was in the state where wanking over her seemed like a good idea. She got what she deserved.
