I'm looking to make a good playlist for a roadtrip featuring songs that talk about highways/roadtrips. So far I have "On the Road Again" by Willie Nelson, "Highway to Hell" by AC/DC and "Highway to the Danger Zone" by Kenny Loggins.

What else should I include? (I'm drawing a blank here!)

Didn't read that the playlist had to be about highways and road trips. I thought you meant that you are going on a road trip and need some good songs for along the way.

The Ramones 'Blitzkrieg Bop' is the best song to start a roadtrip.

Blitzkrieg Bop is a good song, especially with the people I'd be going with.

I can't think of ones that specifically talk about roadtrips, but I love roaring down the highway with "Sixth Sense" by the Brown-Eyed Girls playing. It's in Korean, mostly, so not so much for singing along but something about the beat makes it perfect driving music even when I'm tired. The video is badass too lol

At least you didn't mention "Life is a Highway". Everyone I know thinks that's the best road trip song ever and just... ugggghhhhhh. So tired of that song coming on anytime I get in the car with anyone.

Ok Go - 1000 Miles Per Hour

Okay, so if we're talking songs specifically about driving, you gotta start with Springsteen. Obvious choice is Born To Run; I think my choice for the overall best is The Promised Land ("On a rattlesnake speedway in the Utah desert / I pick up my money and head back into town / Driving cross the Waynesboro county line / I got the radio on and I'm just killing time"), just a great song with a really good vibe. There's a million other Springsteen songs that work as well - Thunder Road etc.

Could also add Paul Simon's Graceland even though it's about a bus journey, not a drive. Replacements "Can't Hardly Wait" is a classic.

More generally, for songs that don't actually talk about driving, the combined oeuvres of Credence Clearwater Revival and the Allman Brothers Band (with special reference to Lodi, Bad Moon Rising, Ramblin Man, and Jessica which are absolutely necessary). Really, all those great classic rock songs from classic rock bands - put on The Band, put on Dylan, put on Sympathy For The Devil. Classic rock, southern rock, good country songs. Johnny Cash. Tom Petty is good. Bowie can be good. Anything with that kind of feel.

Maybe Dar Williams' "Traveling" trilogy? ("Traveling Again", "I Love, I Love", "Iowa".)

e: Also "Road Buddy", which isn't a "Traveling" song but is about a road trip. One that's not so great, but, well.

Butthole Surfers - "Who was in my room last night" (Not exactly about driving but I dare you to listen to this and not want to driver like a bat out of hell to it.)
