ia. Not anything to do with Ron/Hermione, either - I just love the platonic relationship between Harry and Hermione (and wish we had more awesome m/f platonic bonds)

Same. I don't like any of the trio ships, but I love the Harry & Hermione bond.

same. i also think hermione came across as the better friend to harry overall, which i appreciate even if i'm not sure if it was intended by the author. usually in m-m-f trios the guys are besties and the girl's a plus one.

I wouldn't say better as much as a more mature/secure friend.

(Actually this ticked me off, not because it was the case, but because of HOW it was the case -- Hermione didn't get any personal character exploration or development in book 6 or 7 the way Ron did. She was just kinda there -- she was awesome, and more competent that both of the guys put together, but she was just there for the sake of the male characters. Argh. Especially after how amazingly strong and complex a character she had become in book 5.)

but ron didn't get much in the way of real development in the first 5 books of the series (in my opinion), while hermione did. so i'd say she still comes out on top.

i count secure and more mature as "better". i think she's been the more solid, reliable friend since early days, particularly in GoF. i'd take a hermione granger over a ron weasley as a a friend any day, under any circumstance, but ymmv.

Agreed. And another unpopular opinion, I actually really like the dancing scene in the first DH movie as an expression of friendship - Harry just trying to cheer up one of his best friends with something fun, so they didn't have to think about the war they were in.
