I don't really understand the Starbucks=white girls jokes? Maybe it's just 'cause of where I live, but every time I walk into a Starbucks it seems to be a pretty mixed crowd, or even a majority of non-white people. How did it come to be associated with being a punchline to "white girls" jokes?

Now, don't take this to the bank or anything, but I've gathered that it has something to do with a spate of white teenage girls taking pictures of their coffees and sticking it up on instagram with messages of a kind that made them seem they took themselves too seriously.

And thus, if a number of teenage girls do anything, it must be soundly mocked because... reasons?

Teenagers don't always have the best taste, I admit, but I hate the mentality in our culture that says that if young people, especially girls, like something, it obviously is stupid and worthy of mockery.
