If you give concrit on AO3 you get slapped down hard, no matter how polite you are.

It really depends on the fandom. The overwhelming majority of, say, Lewis and Rivers of London fans appreciate and listen to concrit.

This may be the prevailing attitude some places, but not everywhere. I, for one, have always appreciated concrit.

Not true. That's the only place I've given concrit and it was always well-received. I think it depends on the fandom, the specific author and how you phrase it.
