I don't write fic, but I know that lots of people who do only do so for fun and to enjoy seeing their fantasy played out on paper (or the screen, most likely). I think the praise it gets is from people who have similar fantasies about their characters and liked that someone else wrote it down. I'd say it's more about common ground and camaraderie than actually about "good writing."

So, I think it's good that you don't comment even if you want to. Most people would just get upset that someone was sticking their nose in where they didn't want to be anyway, telling them how to express their fantasies.

At least, that's what I've been told.
