I feel your pain. I mean, I don't think I'm entitled to fic or anything but I can't help but feel a little betrayed when someone says something like "I already have the next chapter written and it should be posted in the next few days!" and then months later there's still no new chapter. Sometimes I genuinely worry that the person just died or something, especially if they haven't updated or posted any other fics since that one.

Yeah, this. I remember one WIP in particular that I got completely hooked on; the author said after posting part 8 that the last 2 parts were written and would be going up shortly. Of course, it never happened. (And she didn't die... she just moved on to other things.)

I can accept someone not finishing off a WIP, but what I'll never understand is when they says it's actually FINISHED but somehow can't get round to posting the last bit. WTF?
