Yeah, I admit I'm not a fan of this pairing. I get what it's based off of, but I still think it just doesn't fit both of them that well, at all. (It doesn't help that it's usually included in the 'Super Family' context, where Steve and Tony are Peter Parker's parents. Really just not a fan of all that.)

Yes, that's my problem too. I could ship Spider-Man/Deadpool perfectly well (and Deadpool certainly ships it on occasion) but as part of the whole Super Family bullshit it's just so far off into headcanon that it's kind of insulting to the original characters.

That's the reason I don't like the whole Super Family thing. I haven't read much of it, but from the premise it doesn't seem like it cares much about canon or the original characters at all. It's just there to be cute, or something.

how is headcanon (far from the canon, whatever you want to read) an insult to canon?

I'm not fond of kidfic in general, but I hate how Superfamily completely alters Peter's history and pretends it's still the same character. There is a reason that Uncle Ben's death is the one immutable death in Marvel Land, dammit.

I feel like Super Family fans aren't Spiderman fans, and they just picked Peter at random for it, because he seems cute?

na

Yeah, that's likely it. Plus, he's one of the younger heroes in Marvel's movie canon so he seemed like a likely candidate in that way as well. It may also have to do with the fact that when Peter was in the avengers in comic canon, there were times where he and cap/ironman had a fatherson-esque relationship
