I think there's also a real difference between constructive criticism and criticism that may be valid but is delivered assholishly. The point of constructive criticism is supposed to be to help someone improve their writing; being a dick about whatever the problem is does not help.

for instance, I really appreciate when people point out typos and continuity errors and other stuff to me. I would not appreciate that if they were ugly to me while doing so. And I see a lot of "concrit" that really reads as an excuse to be douchey to newbie writers or people who make inadvertent mistakes.

I'm sorry you had a hard time handling some criticism, Anon. That sucks.
