Fandom Dreams

I'm woke up about 6h earlier than I expected because of The Most Awesome dream. Which was also completely terrifying.

Has anyone had and über-wicked fandom dreams, lately?

You know Alien? Instead of chest-impregnating you, they were tiny, hairy starfish and put mind control bugs in your throat, which then crawled into your brain, a la Animorphs ear slugs. (They still did the nasty blowjob thing, though.) Also, they were attracted by water, and had hyper-sensitive, uh, glands that sensed anytime there was extra water nearby, so if you had just had a lot to drink because of dehydration, or if many people had water bottles sitting around. One pregnant lady in the third survival group was even in hiding because they could detect the amniotic fluid in her abdomen.

Anyway, they kept finding the groups we temporarily joined, and the Riley-style character kept getting herself and her two kids (one adopted post-mass-attack) out of the most Ridiculous situations. Talk about the best "gut feeling" ever!

I wasn't really a character in the dream, though I stepped into the Riley role a couple times to get a first-person POV for a second.

Probably the best part for me, was that she was one of my bosses from work, who is actually naturally red-headed. I can totally see her going all momma-bear like that about her son, and another kid she just clicks with, too. ACH, IT WAS AMAZING AND I WISH IT WAS A REAL MOVIE!

Wow, this is all shades of cool. I love dreams that have more or less coherent narratives, especially if the entire narrative is based on an idea that still makes sense when you wake up.

Me too! And that it makes sense to other people is even more spectacular! Have you ever had those dreams that are so amazing you want to tell everyone, but they make NO sense coming out of your mouth? Siiigh...

That starfish thing makes me think of Starro.

I have the weirdest dreams. Like one time I got picked up from school from the Flash. Why was I in school? Why was the Flash picking me up? Why was he even driving?

Or the time I had lunch with Wonder Woman and Superman and made them laugh by saying "everyone knows Guy Gardner is really 12 years old."

Years back I dreamt about Resident Evil 1. Like, I was playing the game. Only the house (which I know like the back of my hand, btw, if you asked me to draw a map from memory it'd probably be 90% accurate) was very, very different, and I remember being confused by green carpet.

Admittedly, green carpet is rather confusing.

A couple of days ago I had a dream where my best friend and I were on a quest to find sweet golden apples in the middle of a dark Gothic forest. Outside the forest, there was a huge grey river and a small town where every house looked like it was built by a countryside cross between Gaudi and Byron. And a thunderstorm was coming.

Apparently the whole thing took place in Crewe (which is the location where the nonexistent fourth Murder Rooms book is supposed to be set). My brain has weird ideas as regards small cities in Eastern Cheshire.

What made it Guadi-esque? Were there inexplicable wavy benches or structures, or something about the plants? Did you get the apples? I must know!

Yes, some parts of the buildings were inexplicably wavy. And the church had a spire like a melted candle. We did see the apples, but unfortunately I woke up before we got to them! I think they might've been the apples of Hesperides. Greek mythology is what one of the themes of the series is built upon.

I have had some fandom dreams BUT I am always like...just watching what is going on. Like, I had a dream where I was Buffy. While I was in her body, she was the one controlling it. :[

That's not a bad way to go about it.

When I was a kid I saw the movie of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and had a dream with Tom Riddle in it, sort of.

In the dream, he was a past owner of my house, and he had died in a rather mysterious and suspicious way. He had been married, but his first wife disappeared, and he got married again, and one day people came into the house and found him dead in the room that is actually my dad's office, the first wife dead in my parent's bedroom, and the second wife dead in the kitchen surrounded by broken glass. None of the lights in the house worked.

Anyway, my dream started in the present, on the anniversary of the night before they were all found dead, and I was home alone, and suddenly all three of them (or their ghosts, I guess) were there in my living room. The first wife was wrapped in some white stuff, like bandages, and looked more dead than the others. I asked Tom Riddle what had happened that night, he wouldn't say, and went upstairs, presumably the office. The first wife went upstairs as well. So I was left downstairs with the second wife, who looked very much like my history class's student teacher for some reason. We went into the kitchen, and I told her about the three of them all being found dead, and she said obviously her husband had been plotting to kill her in a way that couldn't be proven to be murder. When the lights turned off she would die - but somehow everyone else in the house died as well. She said she wanted people to know she had been murdered, so she started taking glasses off the kitchen shelves and throwing them on the floor, to make it look like he had been throwing glass at her. Then the lights went off and I woke up.

Obviously, that dream made no sense for more than one reason. But it was very creepy while I was having it. And when I told my dad about it, he told my that he had an ex who he had been dating while he was already living in our house before he'd met my mom. One day came over and got really mad at him because he was supposed to be meeting her and he was late, and she took his glasses off the shelves and threw them on the floor.

Glasses as in the things you drink out of, not the kind you wear if you have vision problems, in case that wasn't clear.

So he was either so late she had time to come throw glasses around, or she was so paranoid about him being late she hung around near his house and... waited for him to leave?

It'd be terrifying to live in a house previously owned by Tom Riddle.

Too many to count?

Uhhh...okay, nightmares: I remember having a nightmare about being blown up by a landmine outside the 4077th and even though I was dead and in little pieces I could still see and hear Hawkeye and Radar talking and picking pieces of me up.

And sex dreams: a bazillion, but the strangest was that time I dreamt I was having sex with the warp drive of the Enterprise-D. No I don't remember how that was physically possible. Also, the Enterprise was definitely a she, which is weird because I'm not bi or lesbian and does lesbianism even apply to spaceships that are not TARDISes? I must've eaten too many dill pickles that evening.

I distinctly remember once dreaming about Walter White playing pool with Buffy Summers and several other people I don't remember. Of course, 1/3 of all my dreams are about playing pool.

I had near-constant nightmares about the Diary from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets for about two months after I read it when I was nine.

I've played so much Link Between Worlds lately that there was this one night that I had a bunch of dreams that started off normal, but then came to a point where I had to go into a building or to a different room or some such, and in order to progress in the dream I had to solve block puzzles and such. 90% of my dreams are fandom-related in some way. Last night I dreamed I was Eowyn in one dream, that I was fem-Harry Potter in another, and that I was on a Stargate team in a third.

I tend to dream a lot, in part because my insomnia means that I don't go into deep sleep as often as I should. And I lucid dream, so I tend to remember many/most of my dreams. And I tend to wake up after dreams a lot.

Frankly, as fun as fandom dreams are, I'd rather have a good night's sleep where I wake up feeling rested and don't wake up 6-8 times a night.

Mega spoilers for House of Cards season 2

(Anonymous) 2014-03-29 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Also I haven't seen the second season entirely so please no spoilers

I dreamt that Frank didn't kill Zoe and instead they kept dating and started having amazing sex and more or less fell in love with each other (apparently Claire didn't exist in my dream) and Zoe used her journalist skills to help Frank Underwood rule over the United States. Way to miss the point, subconscious.

I had a dream I was in the Teen Wolf universe a couple of days ago, I was basically wandering around Beacon Hills being a gigantic monster magnet because I kept getting chased by fairytale creatures. Scott and friends kept saving me each time though so that was nice. Also Derek was shirtless every time he turned up in my dream.

I know I had a Harry Potter dream back when the books came out, I'm pretty sure I was a muggle who had somehow wangled their way into Hogwarts because I had a mobile phone, had no wand and I couldn't actually cast any magic.

I've also had the usual, trying to get into the pants of a favourite character/actor dreams which for the most part fail, but the one time it was working I woke up before anything could happen, I was so annoyed.

I have these too many times to remember. Unfortunately I almost always forget about them the minute I woke up.

Dammit! I wanna recall them when I want to... :(

I had a weird Jeeves and Bertie dream, they were going to the estate of some friend of Bertie's when this strange-looking black plastic thing fell out of the sky. Jeeves picked it up and seemed to know what it was but he was acting like he didn't want to tell Bertie. Then they went into the mansion and it had all these flights of stairs going off in different contradictory directions like an Escher drawing. Bertie was only mildly freaked out by the anti-gravity atmosphere.
