That insidious tide of Rose Tyler haters in Doctor Who. It infuriated me so much I wound up retroactively liking her 100X more than I liked her the first time I watched the show (I never hated her, but I didn't love her either) just out of defiance of them. There was one person who was listing Rose and Martha's comparative qualities to see who was a better person, and literally said that Martha being higher-class than Rose was reasonable to include as something that made her a better person. And I distinctly remember someone once asking "why would a Time Lord spare a thought for a council-house chav?" DO YOU EVEN UNDERSTAND WHAT SHOW YOU ARE WATCHING YOU DUMB-FUCKS.

That's gross. I do have some problems with Rose's character, at least in how she was used in series 4 in particular, but the classism is gross. Rose is badass and awesome and her class level is not a reason why the Doctor would or wouldn't want to travel with her.

Wow, what a terrible joke! I cannot believe you spent the time in Photoshop to make such a terrible image for your post! It's not like anybody would ever post such a terrible idea sincerely!

(what. the. fuck.)

Can someone explain the joke to me? I don't get it, and Google isn't really helping me right now. :\

Sherlock's clothes are good looking so he got them from an expensive store.

Other guy I haven't seen enough on my tumblr dash to know has ugly unmatching clothes so he obviously got them from a clothes donation box.

I don't blame you for not getting the joke, though, it's just plain unfunny.

The other guy is the Sherlock Holmes from the modern-day Sherlock Holmes show "Elementary", which Sherlock BBC fandom regularly bashes for a variety of reasons.

Other guy is also a Sherlock. A Sherlock Holmes. On a different show. It's a Sherlock vs Elementary thing basically.

lol!
US!Sherlock's clothes're not so bad.) Why the gave BBC!John such an expensive watch is still beyond me.

Yeah, I'd describe US!Sherlock's clothes as not being so much scuzzy as just kind of dorky. (A formal vest with a busy plaid shirt? Whatever, dude.) Joan's clothes, meanwhile, are pure, concentrated awesomeness.

I absolutely love her clothes! Would wear every piece of it. Minus the heels probably.

Martha being higher-class than Rose

What? Why? Is that to do with education, like the anon above said? So, wait, Martha is "high class" because she went to Uni and then on to med school, but Rose is low class because she didn't get any post-secondary education and works retail? Or because Martha makes more money (as a doctor, and presumably she's filthy rich working for UNIT) than Rose would, as a store clerk?

...IDGI...

I don't know, I always got the impression Martha's parents were supposed to be upper middle class (or whatever the British equivalent is, iirc the "rules" are different than they are here in the US). We see Martha's mother's house in season four, and it does not look like the house of someone as poor as Rose is supposed to be. But Martha herself likely doesn't make very much, and anyway, that's not even the point of Rose or Martha. :/

Oh that pisses me off.
