I just think they're distracting. People compare sex and violence a lot, so let's take two examples of when you might see a gore shot:

1): In a fight against zombies. Gore is expected because it's the point.

2): Bandaging wounds after two armies clash. Gore is expected because battle injuries can be gory.

This would imply that fanservicey images would make sense in scenes where the point is to create a sexual feeling. They could also be naturalistic--I've seen a ballet anime where what's under the tutu is sometimes visible according to how the characters move, and it doesn't do fetishistic camera angles or anything, it's just a thing that happens. But with a lot of fanservicey shows, fanservice just seems to be there to be there, and it can be a distraction from the mood of the scene.

I don' know, man. I think the fanservice really enhanced the zombie shit in High School of the Dead, lol.

It took me so long to realize those two white cloth bunny ears were supposed to be breasts.

Her breasts are incredible! Someone even calculated out how fast they're moving!

Someone also figured out that those breasts are moving so fast they are creating shockwaves that sound like a high pitched whine.

I didn't mind the fanservice in HotD because it only reinforced my image of it as basically a trashy zombie B-movie in anime form.

Yeah, I felt the same way. When it came out, I kind of rolled my eyes at the people complaining about the fanservice getting in the way of the plot because there was not really much of a plot. It was pretty much your standard harem anime set in a zombie apocalypse setting.

I minded it. But I didn't complain about it. I just didn't watch past the second episode. I will never for the life of me understand people who watch a show whose main unique feature is *the level of fanservice* and then whine about it.
