You know what. I agree. There has never been fic, art, or whatever for the slash pairings I ship that have black men in them. (Wesley/Gunn, Tony/Rhodey, etc, etc). I'm tired of people making half-assed 'non-racial' justifications for why there isn't fic for them. Hardly surprised fandom isn't producing anything for Steve/Sam.

Wasn't there a small, but fairly decent amount of Gunn/Wesley fic? I only dabbled in the pairing myself and while I do ship them, I didn't read much for them. Got any recs?

Yes, there was a small amount of fic, and even a fanvid(I think) when I was in Angel fandom! I meant in comparison to the other pairings, I was being kind of hyperbolic (and bitter).

I apologize, I knew what you meant. I just thought that there was a decent amount of it though when compared to other pairings including black guys.

No worries. And that's true, actually. I just thought Wesley and Gunn had so much chemistry and slashiness, and the amount of fic written for them is severely out of proportion to it. And then there seemed like there was so much Angel/Wesley, which made no sense (to me, at least).

They had loads of chemistry, especially after Gunn, Wes, and Cordelia wete off on their own while Angel was brooding over Darla. I'm suprised by both the lack of threesome fic with them whether it be platonic or shippy and the lack of Gunn/Wesley. They worked and played off of each other so well.

I don't totally get Wesley/Angel either. I mean, I guess they had a bit of chemistery, when Wesley first came around in Angel and they did act dorky together before Wes got settled in. But they disnt have near as much chemistry as Wesley had with Gunn.

It isn't just limited to slash. There's barely any pairing fic with Gunn, het or slash. And Gunn had quite a bit of chemistry with damn near everyone. /foreverbitter.

Yes, we totally agree on that. Wow, my reading comprehension is shot tonight. It is ridiculous that ships like Tony/Loki are popular (chemistry between those two, none), while Tony and Rhodey have all this epic man-love, yet it's pretty much non-existent as a pairing. It honestly sucks.

Yeah, I did the math on a few pairings and... it's enough to drive you up the wall if you try too long. I'd like to say I've given up trying to rationalize it, but... well. Here we are.

Eh, I don't really find find Don Cheadle attractive. Give me Fury any day over that.

Tony/Rhodey is still my Tony OTP, though. And I ship the fuck out of Steve/Bucky - are those of us who shipped it since the first movie just supposed to forget about the ship because now there's a black guy Steve interacted with?

No lie, I love the idea of Tony/Clint cause i'm pretty sure they'd just snarky-snark and play gay chicken with each other until they wound up banging

but truly, they did nottt interact in the movies except one or two lines in the battle sequence and the fact that there are hundreds more fics about them than for Tony/Rhodey is egregious

digression, but wow @ those tony/pepper numbers. i'm sure there's a lot of "getting rid of pepper so tony can shack up with [guy]" going on in that tag, but it's still a lot more than i expected.

UGH FOREVER BITTER ABOUT WESLEY AND GUNN, LET ME TELL YOU INTERNET

I didn't watch Angel until the end of last year. I shipped this SO HARD. SO HARD did I ship it! Especially around like season 2, when Angel's all sads about Darla so Wes/Gunn/Cordelia are off doing their own thing and I so want that threeway but I also just want the dudes, cause of the way they didn't like each other at first, but then they grew into a beautiful broship and it's all high fives and "English" and aisdhfjkdelosw give it to meee. Then sadly in s3 they both liked Fred and their beautiful friendship went off the rails and nooo but I still thought there would be angsty fic about it! Perhaps some threeways? I HAD SO MUCH HOPE

That pretty much exactly describes my Wesley/Gunn shipping experience too! (except it was like livejournal instead of ao3)

And yep, forever bitter too.

What do you think of Leverage? Hardison's probably the most-shipped character in that fandom, when you add up all the Hardison/Eliot, Hardison/Parker, and Hardison/Parker/Eliot fic.

(Unfortunately, that's the only reasonably large fandom I can think of where a black man gets shipped the most.)
