F!S Anon Meme (the ??th)

Secrets, rants, opinions, anything you want to say about your fandom or a fandom or fandom in general, do it here! Anonymously, of course. Get it all off your chest.

Some ground rules:
1. Going anon is encouraged but not absolutely required (for those who struggle with recaptchas and stuff).
2. No autoplaying/autolooping embeds, or embeds that cover/stretch the screen.
3. No dropping personal info or IRL contact info, etc.

That's about it, though!

(Today's post is below.)

Tiny fandoms

I really wish my show (Homicide) had a bigger fandom. I ship Frank/Tim so damn hard and it's hard to write fanfiction about them when there's not a precedent.

What are tiny (microscopic or dead) fandoms you wish more people loved?

Bomb Girls. No chance of that now that the show is done. There are also a lot of anime fandoms that I wish would be revived. That major downside of new shows every season is that people move on so fast and fandoms die quickly.

Oh, I've seen Bomb Girls. It's got a lot to it. What are the anime fandoms you wish would be revived?

The main one is Toward the Terra. I watched it after it aired so I barely got any fandom enjoyment at all, I've always had to keep my ideas and love to myself. It's from 2007 though so I expect that to stay the same forever :(

RIP Bomb Girls. And what a shitty way to go. That movie was awful. No surprise, since Michael MacLennan was pushed out, I guess.

There's a books series called 'Gone' which as far as I can tell doesn't have a big fandom at all, and what fandom there is is very young and immature - no nice way to say it, but it's a very typical YA-book-fandom.

I really want some older fans I can talk about the series with. I thought it was just the coolest thing and it had a really broad cast, so lots of shipping possibilities.

Have you checked out "more mature" fandom spaces like LJ/DW for comms? I was part of a YA series mailing list back in the early 00's and there were a lot of college kids in there.

I've had a look, but can't seem to find anything at all really. :\ I think I'll nominate it as a fandom for Yuletide and Femslash Ex, as well as any other multi-fandom fic events that I come across. Hopefully that will open an avenue to finding more fans and sparking some interest.

I was going to read that but my moods are very fickle. It's written by K.A. Applegate's husband though, isn't it?

Yeah, Michael Grant! They're easy to read, fast-paced and quite addictive; I do recommend them if you change your mind.

Chicago Fire

There is some fic but it's pretty much all either canon pairings, a female OC with one of the male characters, or slash with the two main guys (who really don't interact all that much in the canon but they're both hot white dudes). The entire cast has such good chemistry that I ship pretty much everyone. I swear, just about every time there's a scene with two characters that haven't interacted before, I come away shipping them...there are seriously like, at least 15 pairings I can think of just off the top of my head that I'd read.

Outrageous Fortune. But it's 1) a New Zealand tv show and barely known elsewhere and 2) been over for years. There's one fic on Ao3, and it's an Almighty Johnsons crossover. Which is a great idea (and I'm not usually a crossover fan)! I'd love to see them crossed over, or at least I'd like Outrageous Fortune to exist in that world because there's characters on it I can totally see being gods and goddesses. Of course, I'd love even more to see it loved as its own thing. But no one has seen it, or no one cares enough about it to be fannish over it. I don't think I've ever been so disappointed to finish marathoning something, adore it, search for a fandom, and find next to nothing.

It may be obvious who I am from this comment, but there are a ton of British mini/series from the early '80s to the early '00s that I love and are worthy of fandoms. Strangely, a lot of them are set in WWII (which I guess is also a fandom turn-off because fanworks would almost necessitate research).

And on the anime front, Witch Hunter Robin was popular for like a minute when it came out and now has nothing new going for it.

Class of the Titans. It's basically a show about poking fun at Greek mythology. Also Hades is flippin' wonderful.

Hut 33 and Elvenquest.

Both BBC radio comedies, so not much chance of anyone reading the epic AU sci-fi Hut 33 fic I have planned. It will stay in my head forever. No point in writing it.

I don't like big fandoms much. I do prefer small fandoms. But when they're they small to the point of invisible, I don't even bother. I just keep my fantasy mini-fandom playing in my head and it's probably not that healthy.

Someone just introduced me to Hut 33, and I made the mistake of marathoning it yesterday, so now I am sad there is no more. So, I would gladly read your Hut 33 AU.

I was in the same position as you and simply started writing fic and created fandom places anyway. People will show up if you create something. I promise.

I just want one Beyond the Western Sea fic. Well, no, I want more than one, but God, I've been longing for a conversation about that book since 2006.

Radiant Historia. Such a microscopic fandom for such a wonderful little RPG game for the DS. There are like, two people making any fanworks for it at all.

For anime, I just finished Zetsuen no Tempest and was dismayed to see how little fanfic there is. I mean, I knew it had mixed reviews going into it, and the characters seem to be rather hit-and-miss... But everything is so shippable! And for someone that vastly prefers genfic, to come out of an anime shipping EVERYTHING, it was just disappointing that there was no fic for my new ships.
