I've noticed as well that a lot of sites will pull down older work as soon as something new comes along (case in point- pulling down Pokémon art related to Ruby/Sapphire when Diamond/Pearl came out, and then that came down when Black/White came out. No prizes for guessing what happened when XY came out.)

Particularly with shippy things, too. As soon as a new pairing comes onto the scene, down comes the older shipping stuff.

I get making stuff related to what's current, I just don't understand why these guys don't just keep an archive of their older works.

I hate that Japanese artists will take down their art at a drop of a hat. Like they'll get rid of the old art around New Year's and not even archive them. I'm forever kicking myself for not saving a piece of fanart for one of rarepairs because of that.

Ugh! Yes, I hear you! I didn't save one piece of art from a site and now it's gone and I really would've liked to have saved it.

It really sucks, anon. I should have snapped up that image as soon as I saw it. :( I was such a damn fool.

Same here. I actually thought I had saved it, but a thorough search of my hard drive proved completely fruitless and I can't believe that I hadn't saved it.

I could have sworn I'd saved mine too but it was just a figment of my imagination, it seems. For the next for days after I had discovered the artist had taken it fown, my memory of the image fucking taunted me. I can still see it so clearly.

I've vaguely entertained notions of contacting the artist to see if they still have it, but that be creepy. Plus you know, I'd need a translator.

That totally sucks. Do they have a Pixiv account you could track down?

They have a pixiv account, but I don't know anyone who could translate for me. Plus, the image was on their twitpic account which I only managed to find out about during the rare times they unlock their twitter.

It was fanart for Heero/Wufei from Gundam Wing.

Really?! That's so great of you to offer, but I'm not sure if I should. A part of me thinks it would be pretty creepy/odd because of how I managed to find it. Like I said, their twitter is usually locked and it was miracle that I checked it when it wasn't. They don't have a link to their twitpic on their twitter profile thing either. Don't want to weird them out.

I would really love to see if they still have that image though. Especially since fansrt for my otp os so rare. Sorry for being indecisive and rambling. How long does your offer stand?

What was the fandom for the image you forgot to save?

Pokémon. The artist had drawn a pair of images of Palmer and Lucas' father from Diamond and Pearl (only we never see Lucas' father, so they'd made something up) and whilst I didn't save either of them, I only wanted the one of Lucas' dad.
