On the note of wanting fandom to come back, I feel like there should be more ways to increase visibility for Dreamwidth/DW communities, but I also feel like all my attempts to get people interested are either met by a brick wall (stupid DW evangelists!!) or radio silence.

Some of the problem with the people I've been friends with has been the people who created/run DW. There's old fandom wank that goes back with those names and people just don't want to deal with them.

nayrt but the only wank I can recall offhand was old SG-1 stuff which you can read here: http://www.journalfen.net/community/fandom_wank/1250964.html

There was a lot of issue at the time about how Synecdochic (founder of DW) handled the situation, which people were wary of if that was an example of how she'd treat any other wank or issues on DW.
