F!S Anon Meme (the ??th)

Secrets, rants, opinions, anything you want to say about your fandom or a fandom or fandom in general, do it here! Anonymously, of course. Get it all off your chest.

Some ground rules:
1. Going anon is encouraged but not absolutely required (for those who struggle with recaptchas and stuff).
2. No autoplaying/autolooping embeds, or embeds that cover/stretch the screen.
3. No dropping personal info or IRL contact info, etc.

That's about it, though!

(Today's post is below.)

Up until now, I have refrained from making a secret about this, because I feel like I am being petty and whiney, but I guess I will just get this off my chest.

I am baffled by the most popular fic in my fandom. I read half of it once, gave up, and then came back to it recently because I thought there had to be more to it if so many people like it. It's in the realm of almost-good, but the plot falls apart to make way for romance-drama and it is peppered with canon errors. On AO3, it is consistently at the top when you sort by kudos, whereas all the ones that hover just beneath it are significantly better (and many feature a more popular pairing than #1, which you'd think would draw attention to them).

This is such a stupid thing to be so annoyed about, but I can't seem to get over it.

Oh come on, tell us the fic.

And as for being annoyed and baffled for it, I don't think it's whiny at all. I hate it when fic fets canon wrong but I can let it pass to a certain degree. However if all these little details or major ones they're getting wrong, it ruins the fic for me. Especially if they're getting a character's personality so wrong.

I't OK, anon, I think you're allowed not to be in love with a fic if you don't feel it.

Just don't do what this chick does in my fandom, who has the need to complain everytime the fandom is having fun/talking about this fic, and generally being a party-popper. I mean, that's why Tumblr Savior exists, I think. Ignore the rest of the fandom and talk with the people who share your point of view/tastes.

Seconding please tell title. I need to know.

I know the feeling. There's this one fic I see referenced everywhere, so I tried giving it a read and it was the most OOC thing ever. I had to quit reading halfway through and I like never do that.

I have had this same annoyed reaction in my past two fandoms. Fic that is constantly rec'd or written about and I've tried to read but just can't because of the bad.

Don't even get me started on the trash that ends up on the top of the "sort by Kudos" list.

It's a stupid thing to be annoyed about, but you are definitely not alone in this.

You are not alone. I get this all the time with popular and highly recced fics. It drives me a bit insane. It's worse the bigger the fandom is because then you see the same glowing rec 20 times a day.

It can be lonely and alienating not to love what everyone else does.

lol is this Hannibal fandom? because I hated La Maison Rouge and am progressively liking randstad's other fic less and less.

I have no idea what this fic is, but is it for a tv or book series? I always have to stop and remind myself that sometimes fics aren't 100% canon compliant because they were begun when there was less canon to work with. Also this is an anon meme, tell us the fic, please!
