They have great chemistry (and banter!), but I didn't take it as romantic chemistry. Cap did say he wanted a friend, and I think that's what he needed in WS. However...hey, they would be pretty together and they would definitely have an interesting relationship either way, so ship on.

I'm glad they didn't go there though. I'm glad Marvel didn't try to fit a love story (outside of Cap/Bucky sorry) into this film because there was already plenty going on and it probably would've felt out of place. If they do it later, alright, but it didn't have a place in this film.

I'm just glad Steve has more friends now. He was so damn lonely and sad and deserves more. I think he and Nat will be bff's from now on who always have each others backs and give each other advice and I think it's going to be awesome. They need to follow up on it.

I loved the connection between them, and I'm so happy for Steve that he's got friends, like you said.
Personally I like shipping them, but not sure I'd want to necessarily see it in movie canon right now. But yeah, a love story in Winter Soldier would have probably made the whole thing a mess.

Yeaaaa, what Steve really needs is a close-knit group of buddies. Not that he can't or shouldn't have a romantic relationship as well, but I don't think he's in the right place for one right now either. He's only just coming to terms with his role in this decade and has a lot of personal issues to work through before he could be in a healthy relationship. (And even though I ship Steve/Bucky, god, Bucky would probably need years of therapy before he ever hooked up with someone.)

I'm down for them having more scenes together, though! Especially if they banter more. I'd love to see some short films of all the Avengers hanging out, watching movies and shooting the shit. More than anything I just want more interaction on a personal level between all the members.

My headcanon is that Steve's kind of got a massive hangup where it comes to romance, because he's still got the One That Got Away emotional residue from Peggy and it's like the worst case of rebound ever. So any potential partner of his has to deal with the spectre of the First Crush that he's trying to get over but isn't totally there yet.
I mean, in addition to all the other issues, haha.

So yeah, I'm 100% with you on him just needing some solid, stable friendships right now. And yeah, Bucky's a mess.
TBH that was my one small disappointment with Winter Soldier, that we didn't get just a bit more interacting, and more of Steve and Bucky instead of the constant action.

Steve definitely hasn't had proper time to mourn the loss of 'what could have been' with Peggy. They never really had a 'proper' romantic relationship, there just wasn't time for it, but it was something to look forward to. Then...well, his whole world changed. Dealing with all he's been dealing with, with the fact that everything that happened with Peggy and Bucky and the war is still fresh in his mind and must feel like he just experienced it (and well, he kind of did), that's got to fuck a person up. The world moved on but Cap hasn't had a chance to, not fully, and that's sad.

Totes, he needs someone to help him through this.

I would have sacrificed just about anything for more Steve and Bucky moments, but I get why the film is the way it was. Marvel probably wanted to save most the Steve & Bucky interaction for later, and while I love the action and wouldn't have wanted less of it...I would've loved a couple more scenes between them too.

Well hopefully in Avengers 2 he'll more or less get those friends in the Avengers, since they should be more autonomous now after Winter Soldier, thus making sure they really trust each other since they'll actually have to avengers assemble now (theoretically).

You have a point. Since SHIELD is no more the Avengers will be...their own bosses, I guess? Or maybe they'll work out a deal with the president or something. Who knows, but it'll be interesting to see how Hydra scattering SHIELD shakes things up.

I'm sure everyone will be super busy saving the world in AOU, but I do hope we get more little moments like in Winter Soldier between the characters. There was plenty of good character interaction in the film, I want to see them keep that up and play with the different dynamics of the cast. They should be more willing to rely on each other now, especially after everything they've went through (both separately and together).

Well there was that tweet by Whedon a while ago, if you believe it, that said something about Cap and Hulk(Banner I'm assuming) sitting down eating lunch together then getting attacked by killer bees, so perhaps. I'd also assume that there would be little moments between flying places, considering they are filming stuff in Italy, Seoul, and South Africa, unless they split up to go to all three places at once. Age of Ultron by the way.

Noooooo, I missed a tweet about Steve and Bruce having lunch?! I need to follow Whedon immediately. I hope this is an actual-sauce scene and not just something he made up to tease us for the film.

I've only seen a few set pictures so I didn't realize the cast was filming in so many places... If nothing else AOU should be nice to look at!

IDK why but my first thought was, "I hope we get to see Tony fly Bruce somewhere. Bruce needs to make a comment about hulking out while they're in the air."

Agreed. A romance would have felt shoehorned in. Their relationship is awesome any way you interpret it.
