25. HAVE MY BABIES PLEASE

Also, surprise of surprises: THERE IS MORE THAN ONE BOOK. Read them. Reeeeeead theeeeeeeeeeeeem

I was the same way. BEFORE THE SHOW EVEN AIRED there was tons and tons of Yoko fanservice art and I thought "ew, this Gurren Lagann thing is just going to be a stupid boobfest. NOT INTERESTED."

But I wound up loving the show anyway, and Yoko is one of my favorite characters! Not at all what I expected.

32. Don't feel alone. I don't know if I'm a good RPer, but god knows I join mediocre games just to make fun of other players.

8. THANK YOU, YES. Go on real dates, people, and learn romance =\

20. Natch! So how about we throw it all under a blanket and say "all of it is unrealistic crap" :)

21. Then maybe you just haven't experienced a lot of life, dude. You want your life to mean something? Leave your sheltered home, get out there, and DO SOMETHING. Join the peace corps, join the Red Cross, become a political analyst, anything like that will give you more excitement than you can imagine.

I also want to add that comments like, ". . . if I had the opportunity to be a magical girl or something like that . . . it could be more fulfilling, what with the magic and the saving people. I know I could always be a firefighter or a doctor something if I wanted a similar feeling, but somehow the thought of that never really did it for me."

Or maybe it's just that waving your hand and everything suddenly fixing itself is so much easier. Going out and saving the world, making a difference, etc requires hard work, determination, and a strong will. A lot of people don't seem to want to put that effort forth.

Let's not even delve into the fact that so many of us block out third-world plights from our minds. You don't have to be a firefighter---how about just going to Africa and delivering drinkable water and medical supplies? No no, I think I'm content bitching about not being Sailor Moon.

Seriously, anyone who believes our planet is boring obviously knows jack shit about our planet.

I am so frustrated with apathy, christ.

36. iawtc. No one wants to eat your babies or pee in your cheerios.

21. ARGH EXACTLY HOW I FEEL. >__< Instead it's "HOMEWORK & STUDYING FOR FUTURE BOREDOM!"
25. I'd have gotten bored if I saw the real version. The china country thing was creepy. How many people would've read the book without seeing the movie first? I think it's good. :D

24. Lila is retarded, yes, but at least now the show is portraying her as the crazy bitch she is rather than a positive force.

Deb, though? She's kind of a lost soul who's looking for love and approval and I dunno, I don't think it's something to hate her for since they show you how inferior growing up alongside Dexter has made her feel, and in the end, I really, really like her. <3

#8 is so damn true.

#8 is so damn true.

I could never and will never date anyone into fandom or is in a fandom. Hell, I don't think I'm in a fandom, but I will date someone in healthcare, since I'm in healthcare. But I'm really freaked out that people use anime/manga/yaoi/yuri/4chan/slash to build a relationship. And I know we all have a starting point, how else do you get into people without starting out with the same interest, because I know a good few of you will bitch about this, but I'm talking about the ones who say (and I semi-quote and I don't think I SHOULD but it is a GOOD example) "I just love the fact were roleplaying and doing it together versus doing rpg, but not together."

Yeah, that'll save your marriage.

Re: #8 is so damn true.

(Anonymous) 2007-11-20 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
Just so you know, most people who go to that community are doing it as a joke. :| There are probably some real couples on there too, but most of us don't have any intention of a real romantic relationship. If I, for instance, proposed to you there, it's really more like a callout saying "Hey! You're an awesome person and I really appreciate you. I'm really proud that I can call you my best friend!" Doesn't mean that I'm really in love with you.

Fandom isn't any worse than dating someone because you're both in the healthcare field. It's a mutual interest. In the case of RP, some come to associate a certain pairing with their romantic interest and that's why they roleplay--not because they like RP as a whole, but it's a fun activity to do together. So it feels like cheating when the other person does it with somebody else. I agree that RP crushes are silly, but as far as I know it rarely amounts to anything (and probably results from getting a little too in-character).

10) HERE'S A PIC FOR YOU (http://i20.tinypic.com/25qq3x4.jpg)

25) Mmm...the silver standard!

27) Thank you for this secret. I read that book 7 years or so ago, and I've been trying to remember its title for a long time now. People give you strange looks when you say that Death is in a yellow car or something.

32) You're a jerk. :D

15. 24.

(Anonymous) 2007-11-19 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
15. The Doctor does not make his choices on if he loves someone, but on if it's the right thing.

24. Haven't seen this season but I'm surprised you didn't say Rita. She makes me want to kill her sooo badly. I don't like Deb, but she didn't *ruin* anything for me. I like that i don't like her. If that makes any sense. I don't know how I'll feel about Lila, I'll tell you when I stop drooling....Mmmm Jaime Murray.....

[identity profile] arrogance.livejournal.com 2007-11-19 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
8. Well, maybe those don't seem like romantic things to you, but fandom may well have been the ice-breaker/common interest that brought that together. I started talking to my best friend of nearly six years because we discovered we were both involved in on-line fandom. Since then, we've shared a ton of other interests and experiences (both good and bad), but that was still what got us talking to each other in the first place. Maybe people just want to commemorate that.

11. I don't know why it should matter that it's a "real anime" or not. Do you not watch anything that's not anime? I don't follow it closely, but I watch it on occasion, and there's been at least two episodes that actually brought be to tears. It's a legitimately good show; maybe it'll turn out not to be you "thing," but you should give it a fair shot, first.

11 OP

(Anonymous) 2007-11-20 06:08 am (UTC)(link)
It's not that I only watch anime. It's that they keep advertising it as this anime from Nick. It's not anime. It doesn't have the style, in the least. And it tries too hard to act like it. I watch some anime, and I enjoy tons of regular cartoons. It's that they keep trying to force this anime tag onto their show.

6. I'll let you in on a little secret... yaoi is shoujo (most of the time).

20. Haha. Read your post again.

I know. Here's a secret for you, too... I was talking about the other half of the manga I read, which is shounen. ;)

OMGWTFBBQ MARRY ME.
We are soulmates. Sonic is my life. I've been obsessed with him since I was 3.
Is it weird that I'm a freshman in college & I still sleep with my 15 year old Sonic the Hedgehog stuffed animal?

Your secret really made me smile♥

Ahaha ♥♥ Don't worry, I still have my little fellow on the bed too~

Glad I could make you smile :)

3. Just wait until you start hearing Tuxedo Mask scream "Fin Funnel!". Then you know there is truly no return.

[identity profile] demyx.livejournal.com 2007-11-20 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
40. Nah, I'm the same way. But that's OK in my case, because I'd get bored playing or identifying with the same character. I dunno, I just need variety or love everything or something.

I do wish sometimes that I could like really attach on one character, but that hasn't happened.

(I say this and I'm the one with a Demyx journal + matching icons, lulz)

SIX, THIRTY-ONE

31. Lily Chou-Chou secret FTW! I feel like I discovered this movie late- it's so heavy. I think I cried too.

1. Nice. :)

4. You know, whatever helps and inspires you. There's no "getting sick of ____" here.

20. But keep in mind the full emotional impact rape has on someone. They may forgive their rapist, but to have sex with him? Too much trauma.

25. I like the movie enough and love the musical Wicked (the book was good too), but I can still see it being frustrating. I think Dorothy is supposed to be a little girl though - I mean, she dresses and acts like one. It's more iffy casting on that end. I think.

28. Oh... ouch. :(

32. I'd say that's really bitchy, but I know that's the reaction you probably want. So meh. Shut up.

34. I know it. :/

41. Feel free to friend me. :)

Well, I love him cause he flipped Aya over his head like a particularly attractive sack of potatoes without blinking, personally. But... yeah, father figure is an odd title for him. What about him is fatherly to you?

39 OP

(Anonymous) 2007-11-20 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, yes, that scene. Crawford's barely even been introduced and already he's letting everybody know that he's a badass. ♥

I'm not sure what it is, exactly. Part of it is that he's got that vibe of always being in control of any given situation except for that time that Manx shot him, cough cough. He's smart and cunning enough to get what he wants with the resources he has. But then at the same time, he cares about his team, too--and I read that partially from when he warns Nagi off of Tot, and partially from when he catches Takatori's golf club. Yeah, he'll let them get smacked around if they have it coming, but he's always looking out for them, too.
