Pretty sure I'm going to get a lot of hate for this, but... I kinda liked show!Joffrey because of the actor playing him. Like, I enjoyed the hell out of his performance. I still cheered every time he got slapped around or sent to bed without supper, but to me show!Joff was a lot more tolerable than book!Joffrey.

Also, I was kinda sad that they killed him off so early into the season. (But on the other hand... go, Jack Gleeson! Be freeeee!)

Same, I absolutely abhorred book!Joffery but the TV version while still awful was entertaining to watch.

I definitely agree with this. As horrible as Joffrey was in the show, he was still miles better than book!Joffrey and Jack Gleeson gave an extremely enjoyable performance. I really hope he doesn't get type casted for the rest of his life because of this though. I believe in you, Gleeson!

In fact, I think most (with possibly a couple of exceptions that I can't think of at the moment) of the characters in the show are a lot more sympathetic than their book counter parts. I had a lot of trouble truly getting into the books because I just hated some of the characters so much (Tyrion, for example, is a million times better in the show). I think it would have been easier if I had read the books before watching the show but alas.

I read somewhere that he's going to quit acting after Game of Thrones? Which is a shame, since I really think that he's a good actor, but at least he's not in any danger of getting type casted.

I watched the first 3 seasons before reading the books, so I can definitely relate. I liked reading most of Tyrion's chapters, but I'm the first to admit that there some iffy things going on with him and I definitely prefer show!Tyrion. I always had this feeling that GRRM was inserting himself into book!Tyrion, and... yeah, it shows, and not in a good way. Also, Dany. I had no idea how much the show had aged her up, so suddenly even the scenes that had seemed awesome in the show got a lot more awkward by the time I'd read the books.

I still think don't like Jon, though. He's just boring to me.

I think he has sort of openly admitted it. At least in the show I can see Tyrion as Tyrion, not as GRRM in the Dungeons and Dragons universe...

Well, that certainly explains a lot.

Also, yes. Yes to all of that. It's nice to like show!Tyrion without having to wonder which parts are the actual character talking and which parts are just GRRM's id running wild.

He used to have a D&D dwarf character called Tyrion with who he RPed.

... No. I wish I could unlearn that.

I read the books after the 2nd Season ended and... I just wanna add that despite all the gratuitous male-gazey female nudity and sex, I feel like the show has given most women of the story more layers than the original ones had... imo.

No hate here. I definitely agree.

I'm sad he's not going to continue with acting, which made me a bit sad about Joffrey dying.

I'm just sad that the only character that I can, without any guilt, absolutely despise and know that anyone I speak to will despise him just as much has died.

But yeah, I will miss Jack Gleeson's adorable face on my screen. -long sigh-

I haven't yet seen season 3 or 4 but from the first seasons, I considered Joffrey to be one of the characters the show dealt with the best. He's still an absolutely terrible person but by the TV show was able to present moments where you could really understand how he came to be that way, since he was a psychopath who was spoiled rotten by his mother and doesn't seem to have had much relationship at all with the man he believed was his father.

And yeah, Jack Gleeson is amazing.
