Someone I followed on tumblr was a huge fan of this book and for a while I considered reading it myself, for the same reasons you did. But the more she talked about it, the more it sounded exactly like you described. People can be fans however they want, but that doesn't mean I want to read about it, let alone identify with it.

It took me a year to get through Scarlet to be honest. After Cyborg Chinese Cinderella, Fiery French Girl Red Riding Hood just didn't grab me. Cress sounds cool but I can't muster up the energy.

I was baffled too - everyone seemed to immediately know that a skinny prepubescent kid with a buzzcut in a baggy hospital gown who barely spoke was a girl and it just didn't make sense to me.

I'm sorry!

I was never a huge fan, but I was partway thru slowly watching "I, Spy" (old buddy spy show w/ him and another actor), and I don't think I'll ever watch more of it now.

What a shame. He played a good person but he was a very bad person underneath. :(

I think it's very troubling as well bc there are probably people like that in real life that most of us know but miht never know about. (Maybe not w/ so much power, but who use what power htey do have to sexually abuse, rape, molest, etc.) It's very disturbing.

And of course, people who do such things have a very good motive for seeming like a great person to everyone they possibly can (covering up, finding more victims, thinknig of themselves as a "generally" good person, etc).

It's really upsetting, honestly.
